.338 lapua reload ?

Re: .338 lapua reload ?

If you really want to utilize the capability of your rifle you should go through load development. At the very least get some proven loads here on the hide and go to work. With the proper loading you will be able to go well past 1200 yards.

Also, although the military does a good deal of R&D, it is not the most accurate stuff out there.

Re: .338 lapua reload ?

Getting past 1200 yards will be very easy with 338LM. You need to take the time to develop the load that works with your rifle. Optics are also a big consideration. I have my 98B set up with NF 5.5-22 in 40moa rings. This gives me the ability to have a 200 yard zero, and still shoot out to 2000 yards. I am fortunate enough to have a place to shoot 2000 yards!!!
I spent over 20 years in the Army, and fully agree with what Cacciatore said!!!

Re: .338 lapua reload ?

I am also looking for some loading data for my 338 lapua I am very interested in finding anyone that is is shooting HSM's 230gr. T-50 bullet this bullet is highly accurate so far out to 1600yds with a BC of .664 same as the Lapua 250gr Scenar. With factory hsm loads, I have shot their factory ammo the velocity chronographed at 3200-3150fps so it does need to be handloaded to get rid of the high variations, but at the same time with there factory loads I was able to place 5 out of 5 shots on a 16" square steel plate at 1600yds. I shoot a Sako TRG-42 with a 1 in 10 twist. These bullets are a CNC turned solid with a copper brass mixtured metal. They can be purchased directly threw HSM for under $100 a Hundred shipped to your door. As for a hard target penatrator, they are unbelievable as I have shot and penatrated 1/2" AR plate at 800yds, these bullets are very well made and my next plan is to step it out to 2000yds, they sell for around $75.00 a box of 20. And I am thinking with the same BC a the Scenar that with a velocity adjusted Dope card a person could use both on one card as at 300yds they are hitting out of my rifle right at 2" high and less than a 1/4" to the right. So if there is anyone out there with any load specific data for these 230gr T-50 bullets and a load that comes in accurate for also the 250gr Scenar with a velocity close to factory Lapua loading which is 2975fps here at 2400ft elevation. Please anyone out there drop me a line and let me know what you have or a site that i can reference let me know please. I can be reached at [email protected] or 406-291-2607
Thank you again!
