I bought an AR30 (.338 LM) from a friend and it came with 300 Barnes XLC 225 gr. bullets. I have had a challenge trying to get these to shoot. I have been assuming all along that it is me (I still have no reason to doubt that!), but I would like to know if any of you have experience with this round in this caliber? As soon as these are shot up, I will move up to 300 gr. SMK's. Thanks!!

Re: .338 LM Barnes XLC 225 gr.

Back when I had my 338 Lapua I got Barnes bullets to shoot barely ok. I choose to not pull them & just use them to get on paper after a scope change or something like that. If you have a quantity I would suggest trading for the bullet or bullets that you want to shoot. I had good results with all the Lapua projectiles as well as the 300gr SMK.

Re: .338 LM Barnes XLC 225 gr.

Thanks 95LTZ. I appreciate the confirmation. The fact that these bullets are off the market and there is virtually no info online about them would seem to indicate that they were not that great of a product. I don't want to let my shooting off the hook, but my hunch may be correct. It has been frustrating to learn a new system of shooting with ALL variables and no constants. Thanks again.

Since this thread is not exactly tearing things up, let me ask a broader question. What has been your experiences with the Barnes XLC in other calibers? Thanks.
