I picked up a pair of Millet LRS-1's. i tried the rings provided with the scope and they way to tall. with 20 moa base and varmint contour barrel i had nearly an inch gap between the barrel and the objective. i tried a set of dark ops medium rings and i still have about a 1/2 gap. who all makes low 35mm rings? how much gap is to much?

Re: 35mm rings?????

I can't tell you anything about the gap, but Seekings, IOR, Vortex, TPS and USO all make 35MM rings. In my opinion, the gap makes no difference as long as the bell doesn't touch the barrel. Just make sure the rings all tall enough that you don't have to push your cheak down too hard into the stock.

Hope this helps.

How much gap is too much? When your cheek weld places your eye below the optimum height, you have too much of a gap.

No idea the height of the dark ops medium rings, but I imagine those seekins rings are about as low as you can go (or will find, anyhow). Glen makes great rings for a very reasonable price.

His low rings will but your scope tube about .26" above your mounting rail.

Good luck.

I've seen a bunch of people complain about the height of the rings that come with the Millet LRS-1. My guess is that Millet packages the ridicolously tall rings to provide lots of clearance for the majority of users. Unfortunately, this raises the scope too much for anyone not using NV.

Get a set of Seekins Precision 35mm LOW (.950") rings and be done with it. Seekins rings are measured from top-of-the-rail to ring centerline. Snagless design, top-notch machining, Type III hard anodized. Seekins makes the lowest of the 35mm rings.

BTW, "too much gap" is less important than having proper cheek weld when your eye is perfectly aligned with the scope. The ideal combination is to have the scope as low over the bore as possible while having a consistent cheek weld with your eye perfectly aligned with the scope. This will also help prevent parallax error.
