I’m almost done with my cheytac build! I figured it was time to get some powder ordered. It looks like it’s still impossible to find retumbo or VVN570. Has anyone used RL33 with 350gr bullet? Or does anyone know of any other good substitutes. I’ll be shooting CE 350gr MTH.

Did somebody say Retumbo?

Any reason you're choosing the MTH by CE instead of the Laser? If you plan on hunting with it, the laser is still a great hunting bullet! We have seen better performance from the lasers both in 350 grain with a 1:10 twist and the 400 grain with a 1:7 twist.

I am running the 400 Lazer CE with 129.3gr of N570. But i would think if you plan on using the 350 CE or other 350ish gr bullet you could use N565 which is slightly fast burn the N570 and should work well for the lighter bullet. Powder Valley has a bunch of N565 in stock (just looked) and this is an option.

I might give that a try. Any suggestions for a starting load with that? Haven’t used any VV powders before.

What city are you located at in AZ? I just got my ELR rifle built and I live near Ben Avery and was looking for others that shot ELR to shoot and train together.

Any suggestions for a lead core load for 350g bullets? Looking for splash effect on steel at 2k+ distance. Its hard to see solid impact at that distance (for me anyhow).

Thats the LEAST desirable of the Cheytac brass.

Necks will split after 2-3 firings if not annealed, pockets will loosen quickly with loads well under max in other brass

I wouldn’t shoot it if you gave it to me free nowadays

But 10-15 years ago we shot it bc it was all we could get

Cool, thanks for the info. I will be sure to aneal it.. thanks for the input. I have some Retumbo and 350g SMKs. What primers do you suggest?

The go to primer is federal 215M because it’s the hottest primer which you need to ignite that large powder column. You might be able to use any large rifle magnum primer like CCI 250 or even a Remington, but I would try to use 215M.

I have had occasional hang fires, especially in cold weather, even with 215M
