375 CheyTac (Stiller action size??)

I am new to this forum so "go easy on me" as I ask questions and seek answers.

I am wishing to make a long range hunting rifle for brown or black bear, moose, and goat. I have decided on the 375 CheyTac. I live in Alaska and I have possibilities of distances in excess of 2000 meters. I called Stiller this past Friday seeking to purchase a TAC408. I was offered the option of a 1.6" dia receiver or a 1.4" (??). I've only seen the action on their web site. Naturally, weight could be an issue but my main focus is on accuracy at long distances.

1. Which is the better choice for long distance accuracy ..... 1.6 dia or 1.4 dia? Please elaborate as to why you would pick one over the other.

2. What is your choice of barrel maker, barrel contour, and barrel length?

3. Would a muzzle break be one of your considerations?

4. Though the following is off topic, I can't seem to find the option for "instant notification" when someone replies to this thread. Is there a means by which I can be automatically notified when replies are posted to this thread?

Now to the question, one, are you enough to make 1/2 moa shots at 2k meters? I would doubt it very seriously.

The 1.4 inch action will make a good hunter chey tac for you. Using the 1.4 action will allow you to have a 16-18 pound CT that you can use for your 2000 yard shots and not have to join Gold's Gym to carry it.

Generally, If you are looking for ultimate accuracy, you would go with a single shot 1.6 action. Hunting, go with the 1.4. I guarantee that you cannot shoot the difference between the actions at this time.

You will definitely want a muzzle brake for this rifle.

Buy the XLR stock from Kyle. It will allow for better bipod attachments when you find a Harris to suck for a caliber of this size. Get a good brake for that barrel and consider around 30'' to be best length.

Thanks for the reply and especially for the advice regarding barrel length. Would you by chance have a good barrel contour in mind? Keep in mind that I would like to hunt with the rifle so weight will eventually become an issue but also I would like to enjoy long distance competition among friends. There must be a "happy mid-point".
