I am looking for papers that compare the 375 CT to 300 win mag, 338 LM, 408 CT, 416 and old 50 cal.

I have read alot of forums and opinions regarding comparisons but no solid research / evidence.

I am looking for a long range round (past 1200 meters) capable of dropping camels, donkeys and brumbys to scrub bull close to one metric ton. I want to be able to maximize my distance from the animals as the bulls have a habit of charging.

Any useful comparison data relevant to support the 338 LM, and 375 CT will be appreciated.

Re: 375 CT data reports

If you can, Id just go with the BMG round.

You can load 750 grain AMAX rounds cheap compared to the others....aside from the .300 WM.

Anywhere out to 1000-1200 yards they maintain enough energy to kill anything on the planet.

Re: 375 CT data reports

I wish I could use a 50 BMG but I'm going to have a hard enough time trying to justify a 338 LM or 375 CT. Our laws over here (Australia) are pretty restrictive.

I have a contact that has in the ball park of 750,000 HA with the mentioned game but don't want to be close to them incase they don't go down straight away. I will be by myself most of the time so wont have someone else with a similar calibre rifle for back up if the gun jams or the animal isn't instantly incapacitated.

Just another angle... I've seen natives in Alaska shoot moose with a 22lr.

The moose barely flinches. After 3 or 4 minutes they fall over dead. You just shoot them through the rear of the chest cavity/lungs and they drown.
Of course moose would be closer to the bulls your talking about.
They are so used to gouges and gashes from the brush that they don't notice the 22.

FMJ 17 rimfire would be a sweetheart. no recoil minimum noise.

A cross bow would also take the big bulls down. But I'd want a armored up rover for that game... LOL

You could also build a "shark cage" to shoot from.... Built around a quad or something?
Cheers

Re: 375 CT data reports

I think the .416 Barrett is the best out of those calibers for what your talking about. The gun is under 4k from barrett. You wont have to reload your own ammo. It's plenty accurate and has more kinetic energy than anything else at 1200+ meters. Plus the company is not going under anytime soon so you don't have to worry about bullets.

Re: 375 CT data reports

Where about's in Au are you? What state.

The 375 is getting harder to get a PTA for at least in my neck of the woods but of the rounds you listed it would be my pick for a long range hunting rifle.

The 338 is also a good choice.

Having said that I have never meet a scrub bull that didn't go down to a 308.
