Rifle Scopes 4-20 vs 5-27

Doing PRS and target shooting, 6/6.5/308 under 1k yards...is there an advantage of one vs another in mag range? What are the pros on cons of each and is it just "what you prefer"

527 no questions. The weight and length aren’t downsides in that sport and I never see anybody running that low in the magnification range. You’ll like the extra magnification if you ever use it for something other than PRS.

420 is for more hunting / night work / general purpose

The 527 also almost certainly has better depth of field, by virtue of not being an ultrashort design. Definitely an advantage for competition.

For racegun PRS/NRL there is really no downside to going with the larger model.

For something like NRL Hunter where there are weight classes, 4-20x50 might be easier to make weight with although the weight difference is not very big.
