I just ordered a 7-35 atacr which I will use primarily for prs. My rifle has a 20 moa rail, and I was thinking of getting a 20 moa base. I know i dont need 40 moa of cant, but is there a downside to having it? Will I lose light transmission or clarity? I thought it would be good to maximize the scopes useable range for the ocassions I can shoot further than normal just for fun, but am I compromising anything by having 40moa of cant?

The 7-35 has a lot more travel than they advertise, about 35 mils so you should not be at the extreme even with 40 moa. @jwknutson17 is using a 7-35 on his ELR rig and I know he’s using at least 40 moa so he may weigh in with personal experience on this exact scope.

I tried 60moa total with my ELR rifle and I was 0.6mils over and couldn’t zero at 100yds. I found out I had a defective 35x ATACR and sent it because the zero clutch wouldn’t move in any direction after loosening the set screws so I may have more travel.

My other 35x ATACR has 36mils and some change so I most likely will have to swap scopes to make 60moa work for me.

40moa works well with the 7-35. This was my first choice with this scope and my setup and how much travel you get with it. My 7-35 has 37.2 mils of travel. I could use a 60moa base but elected not to because I use the Charlie Tarac if I need more then 30 mils of come up.
