I've been looking for scope bases for my Savage mk ii's that nets the most internal adjustment for my scopes as possible. Currently I have 2 egw 20 moa bases, one has a vortex pst 4-15x50 and the other has a weaver 3-10x40 mounted. With the vortex I have 13.9 mils of travel up, and the weaver only has 4 mils up. Still, at 400 yards I need to hold 7 mils over with the vortex and 15 mils with the weaver. If it wasn't for the 1.5 second time of flight giving me enough time to watch for impacts the weaver would essentially be useless at that distance.

So, I'm looking for better options short of buying a second PST 4-16x50. I see DIP makes a 25 MOA base, which also looks pretty nice, but 5 MOA only nets me an additional 1.5 mils of adjustment. I contacted egw over the weekend and they said they could recut my bases for 40MOA for $20 each at a 3 week turn-around time. At the moment this is my best option but I wanted to ask here if anyone knows someone that makes bases in the 30-50MOA range. Thanks!

I have the DIP 25MOA base on my Savage coupled with the Tac Vector 6-25x FFP mil-dot optic. That scope has about 35MOA of up adjustment when zeroed at 50y with that rail. This lets me dial to point blank all the way out to about 250y (depends on wind and DA conditions). I then use hold over out to 300y with about 4-5 mils holdover at 300y (this is approx. as I do not have my dope with me today and am going from memory). This is tight enough to allow the shooter to do his own spotting. If I went out much further than that, I would run out of room to hold over and precision would suffer greatly. Am pretty sure that with a 40MOA base, I would have to live with a 100y zero as I would not have had enough adjustment to get it back down to 50y. The DIP rail fit really well but required the removal of the factory Weaver mounting points and you have to be careful and make sure that the mounting screws do not hang down into the receiver and foul the bolt. This can happen since the holes are drilled all the way thru the tops of the receivers. Not a biggy but a little gotcha to watch out for.

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but in case this helps anyone: It's not an inexpensive option, but a canted scope mount setup can give additional scope cant when the options for canted rails are limited. ADM Recon-SL can be found in 20 and 30 MOA cant, Spuhr ($$$) and Nightforce Unimount ($$) can give an additional 20 MOA, the Era-Tac ($$$$) is adjustable up to 70 MOA, and I'm sure there are other options.
