40x with 22 250 barrel chambered for .22lr. I have a 1/14 twist barrel that is a varmint 26" 22 250 remy 700. I am trying to figure out if this barrel will stabilize 40 grain cci standard velocity. What concerns me if the grooves in the barrel will work for the 22 rimfire. Also I want to put this in a mcree chassis. How will the conversion magazines work. I see stiller has a 25x copy of the 40x, this may be the way to go. If this could work out, it will feel exactly like my .243 and .308. I know alot of stuff is here, any help would be appreciated.

I agree. 22-250 is a .224 dia. and the rimfire is a .222 dia. It will work but it won't shoot worth a damn! Is the 22-250 bbl. a heavy bbl. or is the lighter version? The reason I ask is a buddy of mine has a 40xb rimfire bbl. he might sell.

I do realize that the rimfire and centerfire are two different animals. Im wanting 26" because thats what my match centerfire rifle is. The barrel is not a huge deal, but I really want something remington varmint size and weight. I alsi realize most .22s are 1/16 twist. However 1/14 twist is great for 40 grainers. I was trying to find someone who had tried this. Thanks for all the input. I would be interested in the 40x. Thanks
