Brand new to this forum so not sure where this post should go. I bought some Lehigh Defense 416 grain .416 brass solids to try in my .416 Barrett. I use this rifle purely for recreation, don’t have the time or money to try and compete with those of you who are very accomplished long range shooters. I’m just getting my feet wet. Yeah, I know, pretty dang expensive cartridge to get your feet wet with.... I have a Barrett 99 use RCBS dies and just like hammering rocks and gongs out there at 1000 plus.... Has anyone loaded up any of these Lehigh’s? I have a couple pounds of US 869 to burn through. As with any other thing I’ve done, the hobby will become an obsession, and I’ll soon be trying to milk every bit of accuracy out of this rifle that it is capable of... For now, I’m just looking for someone to point me in the right direction as to some data for loading this bullet in this cartridge. I don’t have a problem buying a new reloading manual, just don’t have an idea which one might have the info I need. As our local sporting goods stores have all the manuals wrapped in plastic, I just want to make sure the one I buy contains what I’m looking for. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve spent a couple of hours digging in the internet today and come up empty handed. Maybe I’m not using the right keywords in my searches. I would think “.416 Barrett reloading data” would have given me something??? Like I said, I’m not looking for freebies, I don’t have a problem purchasing the right information, Thanks for any help

If only we had a reloading section...…………………….

Oh, wait

Why would you smell BS. What did I say that makes you think I’m full of BS?

Hi,

Well the first post being of asking about big boomer reloading advice...."typically" those type of post do not end well. Especially being posted in wrong subsection.

FWIW....I am sure it is too late since you use your sign-in name on multiple forums, ranging from muzzle loaders to polaris atvs....but you may want to think of a possible new name..one that does not bring up first page internet searches of a female asking for money on "I am totally desperate" dot com.....

Sincerely,
Theis

Thanks for the advice. I guess I’m too naive and trusting of human kind, and I’ve never been able to remember multiple usernames is why I’ve stuck with the one I have. I can assure you I am not a female looking for money. That would be me on the Polaris, and Modern Muzzleloader forums. I’ve been shooting black powder for 35 years so I actually have some advice to give occasionally over there. Reloading I’ve only been doing for the last 5-10 years, so I really bring nothing to the table here, I’m sure.
Just trying to get to the right spot for the information I need. When I signed up it said if you weren’t sure where to post, post it in here and someone would redirect you. That’s what I did.
Like I said in my original post, most, probably all, of you have much more knowledge than I ever will when it comes to reloading, long range shooting, etc, etc.... I currently have only loaded for .30-06, .223, .30-30, and .243 and soon .308. No wildcats or anything bizarre. I can almost always find a fairly accurate load by staying under the max published loads. MOA for me is good enough, my arsenal consists of mainly hunting rifles with the exception of the Barrett. It just costs soooo much to shoot, I’d like to reload it also.
I have my press all set up and components, just struggling to find load info. I’ll ask my question again over in the reloading section, which I missed earlier, and maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve emailed Lehigh, and Barrett as someone suggested. Hopefully that will help.
Thanks for your patience with a newbie
