45 ACP bullets

Re: 45 ACP bullets

you need to decide if you want to use lead bullets or not. ive heard that its not a good idea for glocks due to the rifling.

I use 230 gn lead round nose bullets form Missouri Bullet Company. They are near Kansas City, MO. The prices are good and they are family owned and run I believe. The good part is that they ship in USPS flat rate priority boxes which means you can get 2000 230 gn bullets shipped anywhere in the country for like 12 bucks. Ive been meaning to make another order. last time i ordered late on a friday, after 5, and i got the bullets here in st. louis on monday

If you want jacketed bullets i dont know what to tell you besides maybe midway sells bulk handgun bullets.

Re: 45 ACP bullets

lead seems to stay in the rifling. I started shooting jacketed and switched to lead due to price. i could never get the bore clean again. i have since swithed back. shoot berry's and have never had an issue. have heard good things about rainier as well.

Re: 45 ACP bullets

Rainier makes good bullets. Copper plated, generally the same price as upper end cast bullets. Natchez lists 135 per 1000, in stock. Midway list same price and has 500 and 100 packs available.

Use the same loads as cast, just a thin copper plating.

Re: 45 ACP bullets

I heard that any plated bullet will start to come apart (plating) after 1000fps. I generally load my .45 and 10mm way over that point so I generally use either cast or fmj. The best deal I have found on the .45 fmj (I just ordered 5K yesterday)is here and they ship free for orders over 1K I also have used their 9mm and they work great also. linky here
