I suppose it depends what/how you're planning to use the set up, I assume you plan to use it in cognition with a LPVO? If that's the case I'd recommend going off the tube rather than the rail, the higher optical height will give you much better situational awareness and easy with target to target transitions and can be a little easier to rock from the support side.
 
Im planning on using it in conjunction with a Eotech as a two dot deal for PCC.

Eotech mounted conventionally and the RMR at 45 for offset shots.
 
Not a RMR but a cheap Holosun which has the same mounting footprint as the RMR on a Midwest 45* rail mount on an AR9 pistol. The Holosun came with a rail mount adapter.
