I stopped by my local gun shop yesterday and a good buddy of mine that is a Class 2 manufacture has completed his 45 Winchester mag AR-15.Here is the cool part it uses regular AR mags. I will get pics as soon as I go to his shop. The company is going to start producing these in the next year. And he told me the BAR mag fed 30-06 AR is on the way. The company is called REO engineering out of Galveston IN. Just some cool things though people should know.

Re: 45 winchester mag AR-15 !!!!!

I saw something on these a while back. Interesting concept, but Non-reloaders BEWARE!! The the cost of the ammo (commercial) for .45 Win Mag, combined with the difficulty in tracking it down, make this a MUST-RELOAD caliber...particularly for use in a gas gun which tend to eat more than their bolt action, single shot, etc. counterparts. Tell your buddy to ditch the .45WM and go 10mm!!!

As for the .30-06 AR-based rifle...I assume that you mean the 1918 Browning Automatic Rifle mags and NOT the Browning commercially produced BAR hunting rifle mags. If he meant the 1918 BAR, how are the prices on these mags doing? I know a while back, a friend of mine had one of the semi-auto only BAR reproductions (which was just AWESOME) and mags were running around $75/mag when he could find them. Is this still true or are there commercial sources with surplus, good condition mags for cheaper?

Re: 45 winchester mag AR-15 !!!!!

In fact the commercial 45 win mag will not run the gun unless you use a pistol length gas system or you reload.BRASS IS CHEEP! for this right now. Oh, sorry for not being clear on the mags. Yes, I meant the old BAR machine gun mags.At Knob Creek they are still in the 25-50 $ range. {Not the cheapest mags but still kinda cool.}

Re: 45 winchester mag AR-15 !!!!!

As for the 1918 BAR mags...$25-50 for those mags isn't bad at all considering the cost of any new-production 7.62/308 AR mags running around $20/mag (for 7.62 PMAGs) and Armalite mags fetching as much as $40/mag. KCR was where my buddy bought his (its been 6-7yrs ago) and the cheapest he found throughout the show was (don't quote me exactly) around $75 because I recall him paying around $150 for 2 "as new"/unissued GI mags and me thinking I was glad I didn't have to feed his BAR or buy mags/parts for it!!

Re: 45 winchester mag AR-15 !!!!!

I called my buddy and he said a company may be producing new repo mags. He did not have the info in his truck. He said he he would email info I will post it asap. He thought they were around 40-50 bucks.

Re: 45 winchester mag AR-15 !!!!!

I know a few different companies are starting to produce more big pistol and big bore rifle cartridges, 1 is close to a 444 marlin, another is a 357 or 358 bullet in a full length 308 case.
Another in OK is working on another 50 cal in a shorten WSM case.
