460 Smith and Wesson case sizing question

Getting my reloading gear set up for my new 460 S&W.

My friend had a Hornady custom grade 454 casull die set. He said try it and it would probably work. He has never used it.

Here is the issue. It will size to the base with no problem. But it seems to want to shave brass off the case. I tried it on brand new Starline brass. I tried a few pieces. Shaved a small amount off of each.

Is there a slight difference on the O.D from the 454 to the 460? Or call Hornady and have them see if they can warranty the die?

Did you lube the brass?

I didn’t think I had to on pistol brass.
