4DOF Axial Form Factor and Optical Chronographs

My specific case is I have a Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph (optical), and I'm going to true with 4DOF's axial form factor (AFF).

Optical chronographs aren't known for the most accurate readings. So how should I deal with muzzle velocity?

1. Use the readings from the actual shots.
2. Use my velocity which I've averaged over multiple months.
3. Forget AFF and true muzzle velocity instead.
 
When the chronograph is in doubt (i.e. not a Garmin or Labradar), I move MV to match your <600yd impacts. Do at least 10 shots at a given range on clean steel/paper.

Once you have that data pretty solidified, move out to at least 800yd, I prefer to do it at 1000-1200 if possible the move your AFF. If you have to adjust more than .05 either way you might look at a combination of MV and AFF. More/better MV and down range velocity data would definitely help make this easier but I understand it's not always possible.
