Rifle Scopes 4K res glass video steiner next to kahles

first of all if you watch this video make sure you either download it using a YouTube down loader in its highest quality download setting! ..Or if you have a fast enough internet connection do it that way but i assume most of us dont it took me 28hrs! to upload this 7GB clip to YouTube and if you watch it in 4k you'll see why
my internet isn't fast enough to stream it but if you can or you wait or you download it 4k video is amazing and you really get a good look through these two scopes!

this was my thoughts on my new $1200 steiner i got thanks to euro optic originally posted for shooting austrailia forum but thought some of you might like to see this if there considering purchasing either of these two scopes

id like to give my thoughts just quickly on the stiener 3-12 ...for this price fantastic!
the vortex viper pst 4-16 dose have impressive glass for a scope made in the Philippines and costing only a few hundred dollars less in aus but for the build quality the name and the glass that's clear right to the edges then for this price point its unbeatable!!! glad i picked one up its going to be a great replacement for the vortex

HOWEVER.. this was the scope i was originally looking to purchase before i brought my kahles ..simply because i could hold one in my hand and feel it before spending 3k and it was also quoted 200-300$ cheaper then the stiener 3-12 way back about a year ago almost now..
and i have to say ...i would not have been happy if i paid 3k for the steiner and then had a look through a kahles that was the same or lower cost
and i know im not comparing a 5-25 to a 6-24!!! ....but i am comparing two scopes that where once and still are from some dealers the same price and two scopes i was once deciding witch one to get.. i now both have
the kahles just seems brighter
the kahles and its field of view even at higher then 12x magnification
the kahles feel and turrets that stiffness and that click when you turn them
..i once complained or more was concerned with some C/A in my kahles scope witch there is some of now seems like less of a big deal now and something i can live with if you know what i mean i just feel that my kahles is now more justified to be a high end euro scope and ive fallen in love with it again ..i love my steiner too mind you ..but that k624i just seems as tho it should be more expensive then the 3-12x56 significantly as it was once priced (quoted) for me

...anyway steiner fantastic for a 1200$ scope
...kahles would buy another for 3k and probably save for one more of them rather then buying two more 3-12's if i ever had a need for another
and would love to be able to compare a 5-25x56 steiner one day just for shits and giggles but as it stands i dont need one ive somehow managed to afford two euro scopes thanks too eurooptic

Thanks for sharing the video. One concern that I have about the comparison is with the mag power, since it's quite different. The Steiner has half the mag power vs the Kahles. Granted the mag range is similar though. The Steiner is at max power and the Kahles is in the middle of the range, so it's hard to really compare them. It's pretty well understood that scopes generally look the best at low to mid power, and at top power they can look more dim and potentially have lower clarity. Simply speaking, I think that the scopes are both excellent, but I think that the Steiner isn't given a fair chance. I think that the results could be viewed differently if it were a 5-25x56 scope on 12x.

Yeah witch i did mention that in my quick write up, as i said im comparing two scopes that were once at a similar price range two scopes i was looking at purchasing a while back and now own...
i understand what your saying but here in aus you can buy a k624i for less then the steiner 3-12 ..its more of a first thoughts about my new scope and a little info for anyone looking at buying either of the two then a full on comparison, like i said its just a side by side.
but as far as build quality, turrets, and field of view, its still going to go to the kahles from my understaning even when compared to a 5-25 as thats something there known for and i personally think its a deciding factor

to my eye i think the kahles was defiantly the brighter scope of the two.. may be due to the filed of view letting more light in ? but even if i cranked the kahles up higher in the mag range it performed better for me

Also did anyone notice the CA along the edge of the barn? On the Steiner.

look carefully at the top of the barn through the kahles and you may see some redish CA also it has to do with the way the camera or your eye is positioned behind the optic and it can appear and disappear ..i used my alloy ladder once to hang a target off you shoot groups at 100m and the shiny high contrast silver shows up CA in my kahles
..i used to be a lot more concerned about it and actually posted a thread here once asking weather or not i should be worried about the CA in my kahles but after shooting some more and now looking through the steiner i am much less worried about it and have a new appreciation for my kahles now
...i did have another part to this vid i took where i zoomed right in on the kahles reticle i think and i don't know if it was the zooming or the way the camera was positioned behind the scope but it showed a lot of CA on the barn but edited that out as my eye could not see that and it would have given false ideas

You are right in the case where CA can be created in any scope if you try hard enough, using angles or just looking at bright images, also as previously noted to get an apples to apples result a 5-25 Steiner magnified equally with the Khales would be appropriate. Both scopes are phenomenal and would be glad to own either one. Thanks fo posting.

I can't make out much difference in detail with the limitations of my screen, but what is extremely noticeable is the massive difference in FOV between those two scopes. WOW!!

Doing a comparison this way is such a terrible idea, I do not know where to start.

Please do not try to judge image quality this way. This gives you some idea of FOV, but really the only useful thing you are getting out of this is how the reticle looks.
