I tested a new powder (VV N160) yesterday in my AR-10 chambered in 260 Rem. Every group had three shots into one nicely small area, and two shots away from the three.

Note that, using my normal powder, H4350, I've never experienced this problem.

I seem to recall reading one time the usual cause for this condition, but, naturally, cannot find the article/discussion/etc using my search parameters. Does anyone have an idea where I could find the information about this situation?

Thank you,
Richard

Try a larger group like 10 shots and see.
Some setups have an issue with first round going off, or last round going off a bit.

I'd suggest try a 10 round string, load 10 rounds, shoot rounds 1 and 10 at a different impact aim point and then 2-9 all at a the primary aim point
See how that looks.

Another suggestion would be to make sure you are rebuilding or at least assessing your position and fundamentals between each shot. Big gassers reward consistency shot to shot. I have found it’s easy to get sloppy with my GAP10 because it’s ready as soon as the previous shot breaks. Be consistent and rebuild your position if needed.

Let us know your findings. I’m curious myself.
