Recently, I thought back over 50 years to an idea that haunted me for a long time, but never moved. In RVN base camps we often had 106 recoilless rifles with "Bee Hive" rounds for perimeter defense. For those of you who are not familiar with the last defense "Bee Hive" round, Google it. Well anyway, the 106 had a 50 cal spotting rifle attached. This was the M8c gas operated semi-auto rifle, with optical scope w/ 5 round magazine. The round had the same ballistics of the 106 and was used to range and sight the 106. This was not the standard 12.7X99 BMG, but the 12.7X76 spotting round. I often over the years thought of stocking one of those as a rifle, but never found one available. Didn't even know if it was practical due to the recoil, but now I need to kick myself for not trying. That's why some people succeed and others are left behind. To borrow a famous leftist creed," Just Do It". How many of you have had an idea that someone else jelled and you just snap your fingers and say "Drat" . Again I say "JUST DO IT".
