50 BMG upper - AR lower

I have an AR lower laying around and was thinking about a 50 upper. I would want a longer barrel - not interested in a 18" or 24". I could also be talked into a repeater as I already have a shellholder type.
Comments/recomendations??

I'm sure that others will disagree, but I don't trust that big of a cartridge being held by two little pins that close to my face. The recoil is harsh and the lower is aluminum. The armalite ar50 isn't a whole lot more $$$.

Look at an ALS upper. I know several guys who own & shoot them in FCSA matches. I recently shot a match with one that is used as a loaner club gun. I had no problems with it and it will shoot a helluva lot better than I can. It's had over 1000rds through it and the pins are still nice & tight in the lower.

It stands for Advanced Longrange Systems. I've talked to some VERY experienced 50 shooters and they all said it was probobly the best 50 AR conversion. They don't make a repeater though. It's not a shellholder, it's a normal singleshot bolt action. I was able to get pretty fast with it during the match and I had no experience with it until the day before the match.

ALS is a good setup for a conversion, thier some good people to deal with as well. About 30 minutes away from me.

Tactilite uppers are very, very good and have Great fit and finish. I had one for a couple years, before I decided to sell and go to .338 Lapua. Mike, the owner will pick up if you call and is super nice guy to talk to. You would not have any regrets if you go with one of these. The other makers of uppers seem to have everything down pat also, so nothing negative to say about any of them. There was an incident with one upper exploding, but it came down to the operater and his reloades.

As far as the AR lowers not holding up to the Big .50, I challenge anyone to find proof one has failed? Your not going to find anything!
