Range Report 6.5 140 AMAX questions

Couple of questions if anyone knows.

What is the BC of the 140 amax

and hornady lists the bullet for 1-7.5 twist. Im shooting a 1-8.5 twist. shoots very well at 100 in inital load testing, but dident know if this would effect it at extended ranges.

Im pushing them around 2750 if its needed for the bc, im not sure how to figure it out.

I shoot them in an 8 twist and have always used the listed .585 BC and it's been right on.

Where does it say 7.5 twist is recommended?

i have three new boxes of them, and it stated listed for 7.5 twist on the front of the box. ? IM woring on a 6.5x47 and wanted to run a computer drop for it to get close.

Hmm never noticed but know many who shoot them with 8 and 8.5 with no problems. Same with the .308 178 AMAX. It says 10 twist on the box and people use them in 11 and 12 twist barrels.

I used to have an 8.5tw 260 gasser that was throwing them at 2700fps. They showed stability through the sound barrier at -800 foot DA's.

I'm currently shooting them at 2675 from an 8tw 6.5 CM.

I agree with Rob, the .585 G1 has been very workable for me. JBM has Bryan Litz's verified G1 and G7's.

I am running them at 2725 from a 26 inch Brux with an 8-twist. As far out as 630yards they are flying true for me. I used the B.C. from JBM's drop down bullet library, and had a first round ten ring on the 600yd F-class target.

They work exceptionally well in my 26" 8 twist 260 Rem barrel.

They work great in my 8 twists.
162 Amax's (.284) also have a scary twist warning on their box, but run fine in slower twists.

I've over 1400 of them through my 9 twist .260. Although I have a 8 twist Benchmark that should be here in a couple of weeks.

Also, a .585 BC

I have run several in my 260 with 9 twist. I have some older boxes that don't have a rec. twist rate.
I have shot them to just over 600 with good results.

I run them in my 6.5 Lapua. 8 twist at 2760 or so. They do great out to 1110 yds - that's the farthest I've shot them.

i'm running them in 2 different guns that have 8tw barrels at 2800ish fps out to 1150 yds w/o any problems.

I've shot them from a 6.5-06 @ 3100fps to 1740yd, transition was somewhere around 1600yd. They were repeatable without issue, DA was appx 2700 that day.

Also shot them at 2700fps from a 260 gas gun to 1450yd, DA was appx -800 and they hit without a stability problem.

Recently shot them at 1770yd at 2675 from a 6.5 Creedmoor and they showed up just fine.

It's a good bullet, transitions fine, and is very reliable from my experience. I've shot probably 3000+ of them now.

I shoot them at 600 regularly. They are awesome at that range and did well for me my last match. I shot a 5 shot group at 100 today, 47.5 4831sc, lapua case, 260AI, 140amax and with the cold bore I was at .335 and without its I was .155. Love the bullet and .585bc works well. Although, I have heard that bryan litz had tested them higher.
