6.5-284

I have taken mine to a mile multiple times, and to 2k once on a 66% IPSC. Gets pretty sketchy if there's even a breeze. Shooting 140gr. Bergers @3100fps from a Beanland built rifle.
 
I’ve got one in a 294 neck built on a bat m. I’ve only had it to 1400 yards but it does pretty well once you get on the 24” target. The misses are hard to see in the pasture with the grass being thick. I like the challenge of it. In Kansas it rarely doesn’t blow like hell.
 
Straight up 6.5 X 284, 28" barrel, 139 Scenars. Really good node at 2940 or so, easier on the barrel than pushing it up to 3120 which is the next node and a hot load. It's a match rifle so it only gets shot at 1,000 yards. Lucky to get 1,000 rounds of match accuracy out of a barrel. it is very accurate.
 
Somewhat of a shameless plug here, but this is a good option that can really breath new life into that 6.5-284. The 123gr Flatline has a better BC than the 140 class bullets and can be driven at 3300fps without pressure signs. Thus, retained velocity at target is much higher, TOF is significantly reduced, so elevation and wind call adjustments are significantly less. Supersonic to 1800 yards at sea level. And you can't over spin it; nothing to come apart since it is a solid.

I was at 3200 with 140’s but it started to open up. Backed it down a few tenths and found a node at 3150~ but don’t recall what number. Rl26 gets good velocity, 27” proof barrel

Dan - Your site lists load data for the 121, not the 123. Are there possible differences in bullet profile such as bearing length which would prevent using the 121 data for the 123? Also, every possible powder is listed and given barrel life for a 6.5 X 284 what powders in your experience work best with the 121 or 123? As always low ES/SD numbers are a priority, my current setup runs single digit ES/SD numbers.

Not sure why the 123 section is missing, although there are some 123 charts mixed in with the 121s. I'll get that resolved Monday first thing. In the mean time, the loads for the 121 will be close, but the fact that the usable capacity changes because there is more out front and less in the case will change the loads a bit. In addition to the charts on the website, I'd be happy to send you a chart for your combination if you send us an email with your barrel length and case capacity in water weight in grains. [email protected]. myself, I'd be working the RL26, the RL16 and H4350 avenues.
