Pondering doing a build with the 6.5 Creedmoor. This will be a powerline, bean field and mountain goat hunting rifle. Being I do reload which barrel length(24"or26") would be best or optimal? For those of you having this rifle at the specified lengths what are your velocities with 120to140grn bullets. Thanks in advance!

I’ve got a 22” sendero light being chambered now. Excited to get it back. One thing to note is the proof profiles don’t match up to traditional contours. Their sendero lite is closer to a medium Palma steel.

My 24" barrel is spitting out 140 hybrids at 2830 fps (2850 fps with suppressor). It's a Benchmark not a Proof though. I used to shoot 26" barrels in 6.5 creedmoor, but I've since gone to 24".

With a carbon fiber barrel, a 24" barrel should still be light yet provide some nice velocity.

I forgot to add. My 22" Proof CF barrel is running 127gr LRX @ 2997 fps with RL16 and Hornady Brass. 140gr ELD-M @ 2749 FPS with H4350 and Hornady Brass and 147's around 2850-2870 fps (can't recall) with RL26 and Hornady Brass.

I'm sure I can squeeze more out of the 140's with RL16 and different brass but it shoots fine and I have another 6.5cm and extra barrel to play around with and not push it on the Proof.

I’m doing the same thing basically. I’m adding a 6.5 Creedmoor to my 6 Creedmoor build. I’m either using the WTO Switch Lug or index up to the recoil lug. I was going with a 22” but decided on a 20” Proof.

Im loving this thread. I am going to start a Defiance/Proof build and I was thinking of a 20" in 6.5CM. This will be a hunter, target, etc, rifle more for fun within 1000yds.The build will go into my current McMillan stock that has a medium Palma barrel.

I tend to shoot my AIAX in 6.5CM and .308 most,(Factory Hornady 140ELD's) but want to have a traditional bolt. Any feedback or direction would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Right now I’ve got a custom Stiller Tac 30 6 Creedmoor with a 22” Krieger light Palma in a XLR Chassis. I’ll be putting it in a Manners HH5 adding the 20” Proof Carbon. Full time suppressed so short barrel is welcome.

This post has been awhile ago but I’m having a barreled action built real similar. What stock is that and what j
kind of weight is the rig? Thanks ahead of time.

Per my new(-ish) Speer manual; shortening the 6.5 Creedmoor will lose velocity by about 20fps per inch for barrels under 24" in length.

My bolt gun barrels are 20" (223 & 7.62x39), 24"(223 & 308), and 28" (260 & 7.62x54R)).

My AR barrels are 16" (223), 20" (6.5G & 308), and 24" 2-223 & 6.5G).

Yes sir it does. The proof barrels are supposed to be faster barrels than some of the other steel barrels. It should be about a month before my 6.5 is finished. I’m excited to see results.
