Looking to pick up a 6.5.I have about $1000/$1200 to spend.Mostly a range gun but maybe occasional hunting.Any input appreciated.I’ve looked at the Rem PCR,Magpul 700 and Savage 10BA stealth,110 Tactical Desert.

I'd buy a Tikka CTR or Bergara HMR over any of the options you're looking at. Better yet save a little longer and pick up a Tikka Tac A1, they can be had in the $1500 range. Some lightly used ones has sold for less too.

The reasons I wouldn't buy any of the others is because Savages are clanky pieces of shit, and Remingtons quality control has suffered hard so who knows if you're going to get a precision rifle or a tomato stake these days.

Bergara HMR in either version B-14 HMR, or Premier HMR Pro but the B-14 HMR is within your budget, built on the Remington 700 SA profile, has an internal aluminum mini chassis, adjustable length of pull and cheekriser, and has tons of aftermarket options, plus it accepts the Magpul AICS magazines which inflict a lot less pain on the wallet.

Consider Howas and Tikkas, they are both very solid contenders. I own a Howa and it's accurate AF. It has no problem keeping up with other rifles costing twice as much!

Fist two pics, I just took like an hour ago. Currently out hunting with it!

Never weighed it before. Barrel is 24 inches. I believe without optics and ammo, it was around 9 or maybe 10 pounds brand new. It's probably very close to 12-13.5 pounds now. When I get back to the city I'll see if I can weight it as is. At the moment, still out hunting.

I've had great experience with Tikkas and the Bergara HMR. I felt a Howa in a store once and it felt real good, but I've never shot one before. Speaking of which, is there an aftermarket bolt knob available for it? That's the one thing I kinda wanted to change given my short time with it in the store.

I had been having the same internal struggle. I really liked the Ruger Precision, but wanted to save a few bucks for glass. That road led me to the BA 10 Stealth and Ashbury. Then, I funneled down to the 110 Tactical Desert. I drove 30 minutes to a very large gun shop in the Charlotte, NC area only to discover I absolutely hated the action. Meanwhile, I had kept an eye on the Bergara B-14 HMR. Right deal at the right time ($809) on Gunbroker and I pulled the trigger and pick it up today. I'm pairing it with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 MRAD EBC-2C scope ($649 at Euro Optics), which is also arriving today. I hate spending money, but I love nice guns. I really want to reach out and touch things, so this, after a lot of agonizing, is what I decided (not settled) on.

I'm not so sure you know this already, but...

You can get just a Howa barreled action by itself as they sell them that way, and then look for a chassis or stock of your choice so you can have something a little more personalized or custom to your specific liking. With the budget that you have, I'm sure it'll be no problem putting something together like that.
