So I built a Grendel pistol awhile back and made this vid. Finally uploaded it and would like some feedback!

I'm currently selling the barrel and BCG just to change things up, but still love this build nonetheless.
The 6.5 Grendel seems to be a solid round from the small frame AR, in power and range.
What do you guys think of builds like this?

I think an SBR 6.5G would be a ton of fun, especially compared to 556. Personally, I've talked myself out of it more than a few times based mostly on ammo cost and bolt failure fears. Before cans were so plentiful, you also had to be concerned with powder burn rates and whatnot as much as velocity with shorter barrels. The 6.5G seems to be a winning combo in 14-12" all the same, easily beating out 556 in many regards. If I had to pick one AR15 round, the 6.5G would probably be it, but with a bunch of spare bolts to go with it.

I built one just because. About a month ago I had it out at The Range Complex in Autryville, NC and we shot full size IPSC steel targets out to 600yards with a S&B 1.1X4. I just held off for elevation and wind. Will it beat my .260REM or 6.5CM? Not even close but for a dang 12" little gun it does pretty good. I am planning on hunting with it suppressed next deer season, well because 'MURICA!

Bill A. told me once to go long or go short with 'em. Here's an 11.5" Lilja barreled rifle (the barrel is actually closer to 10.75 or 11 because Lilja didn't include the barrel extension in the length). I built it while back, probably take it out for the first time next week if I feel up to it.

He is 100% right IMO. Not a fan of the 14-16” range. Stick with 10-12 or 18-20+. That’s one sweet looking rig BTW!

That's pretty much what he said! And thanks, I kinda like it. I have a lot of hope for that 1-8x USO on it, has the dual focal plane reticle, so on lower powers it looks like a dot sight but when mag goes up, the higher it gets the more the tree reticle comes into view. It's pretty neat and I figured the perfect optic for something like this. Good up close, but it still has some range. Though it may need heavier bullets to take advantage of it.

It's more manageable than the 20" barreled rifle, but this one has a cut rifled Satern barrel and is capable of .33MOA groups consistently. But if it wasn't for this rifle, I wouldn't have built the SBR in the first place. They both have TBAC cans and can share the same 5" and 9" Ultra cans. I recommend a JP FMOS carrier and their bolt but I have a few extra Grendel and Beowulf specific bolts stored away.

Nice looking pistol.
I finally got the parts together for one myself.
12” BA barrel on a Gibbz side charger upper and a Nightforce 1-8.
Got a case of hornady black for a starting point and the brass.
To much reading gave me the Grendel itch.

Just took mine to the range last week, stacking Hornady Black at 100. Low cost, fun truck gun with some promising accuracy potential.
PSA lower and upper complete kits, then added a couple upgrades purchased from members here on the Hide:
1. Faxon Gunner profile 12.5” barrel
2. JP Roller trigger

Well, I finally got to shoot this thing. WOW! The Lilja barrel is dead on accurate, I was averaging .5MOA with the first ~40 rounds fired. All handloads .1 grain apart per five rounds with 120 BT's averaging 2100-2200fps with AA/Lapua brass, CCI34's and Tac powder IIRC. After I zeroed the irons, and KAC micro flips are always the best yielding groups about as good as the optic, I zeroed the USO 1-8x SR8. Talk about a dream, the perfect scope for this rifle, which I was kinda thinking it would be. At 1x it's like a circle-dot sorta like an EoTech and at higher mag it has a small tree reticle with a cross in the center. Full line illumination like all USO reticles. It was NICE. Definitely a perfect pick for this SBR since it'll work well short or long range.

I took the long rifle out too, the one pictured below this one above and it's been awhile so I needed to find the right load again. I got about .5MOA, same as this SBR, which is really good for the SBR but not so great for that rifle. But I got home and found an old target that had a .25MOA group, best I ever fired with it, and it had the load written down so when I heal i plan on tweaking these. I bet this SBR can do even better with the right load, perhaps even a lighter one like a 95gr., 100gr., or 107gr. We'll see.

Recoil was super light, almost sluggish, so I'm gonna change out whatever buffer I put in it with a regular AR buffer. That should clear it up. No hiccups with the .30 Ultra 5 and that short TBAC can has better performance than you'd think. The 9" can makes the rifle sound about like a suppressed .22 with a sonic crack, it's that nice, and neither affected groups.

Bottom line is I really like that Lilja SBR barrel and the JP ent. FMOS carrier was super slick as always. The SOPMOD stock is perfect for it too. The Geissle trigger is icing on the cake and the short bipod is nice but the legs have to be extended with these 30rd mags. No other AR fires as soft and smooth as this SBR, but that could be a liability unsupressed so a standard AR buffer is in order.

Easily a new favorite and I don't know why I didn't make one sooner (well, I guess i tried, but Satern had me waiting for years on a custom cut that never materialized).

I put my parts together a couple days ago minus the hand guard. I only fired a box and half for break in and function check.
So far every round went bang and cycled fine. I tried a Gemtech suppressed bolt carrier, but it still seems over gased so I'm going to put an adjustable block on it.
I need a larger hand guard, my seekens SP3R doesn't leave enough room around the 30 cal thunder beast. I'll do accuracy testing when I get a new handguard.
Loving the Gibbz side charger upper.
