6.5 PRC neck bushing size

The PRC has a tapered neck wall thickness. Loaded rounds measure .2895 at the mouth and .2915 near the shoulder. I use a .288 bushing with the expander ball in place. If you don’t use the expander ball, you’ll end up with a funnel shaped neck ID. If you don’t have dies already, the hornady match FL sizer has a well designed expander ball, unlike Redding which is garbage.

Redding type S here.

Size is all a matter of how much neck tension you want. .264 + (Neck Wall thickness x2) = 0 neck tension. Decrease total for desired neck tension (I.E. .002) then pick the size above and below the target (total of 3 bushings). Yes you end up with extra, but it beats having to stop and go buy another if it is not what you want or you have more spring back in your brass.
