Wanted to share some velocity info I’ve gathered with a bone stock Christensen MPR (steel barrel.) It started out life at 24” and was chopped down to 19”. When mentioned, suppressor is a TBAC Ultra 5 Hope someone finds this useful:

    1. Brand new 24” barrel, unsuppressed.
    -Hornady factory 143 ELD-X: 2875 fps

    2. 24” barrel, suppressed. Unknown Munitions (house loads with different bullets, no custom development)
    -127 LRX: 3113 fps
    -135 A-Tip: 3072 fps
    -140 ELD-M: 2935 fps
    -140 Elite Hunter: 2924 fps
    -156 EOL: 2850 fps

    3. 19” barrel, suppressed.
    -Hornady factory 143 ELD-X: 2760 fps
    -Unknown Munitions 140 ELD-M: 2781 fps

    4. 24” to 19” barrel velocity loss:
    - Unknown Munitions 140ELD-M: 155fps; 30fps/inch
    - Hornady factory 143 ELD-X: 115fps; 23fps/inch

Ive got 90 rounds down the pipe so far, so it may not be as fast as it’s going to get just yet. Dropping from a 24” barrel to 19” gave me a rifle that’s much easier to handle in the field and 2700+ fps with a 140 grain bullet is more than enough to kill anything I’m shooting at. Also, the velocity loss isn’t 100% representative since it’s a mix of cold/hot barrels and suppressed/unsuppressed.

I squeezed off a few at a 400 yard target and it was dead on. All this data was collected at a DA of 2000, hell the last data set was at a DA of 17.

And yes, it’s all factory ammo. Wonder if this Christensen barrel is just slow? Doesn’t matter much to me, it does everything I need it to do. I’m not a handloader.
