I’m looking at a new tube for my 6.5 RPM (similar to PRC specs) I’m currently running 1:8 with 153.5 bergers and they are stable according to Berger and shot them to 1200. Would I be better off going 1:7.5 on the next tube? I might mix back in 140s. Lightest bullet id shoot would be the 140 class.

thanks
Tyler

153.5 1:8 pickups at 1200 yards. Made round holes in the target so that’s good 😆

I am running a gain twist that starts at 1-9 and ends at 1-7. This is not in a magnum case but I am pushing 130’s at 2920 and it is a hammer. I have a friend with a 6.5 saum and he is running the same twist without problems

Unless you are shooting at extreme cold temperatures, you should be ok with 1:8, however, one never knows what bullets are in the pipeline and may be introduced in the near future. For that reason, my 6.5 PRC is going to get a 1:7 or 1:7.5 barrel.

I'm running a 28" 7.5 twist with Berger 153.5's and 145 match burners in a 6.5 max case. Have an 8 twist barrel in a 16" shorty for the same rifle and no issues with either.
