i was wondering what weight people were shooting for matches? I didn’t know if people were shooting 140s and up for accuracy or if they were shooting lighter rounds for more FPS and less recoil...
Thanks for the discussion!

In my 6.5x47 I’m currently shooting 130 hybrids. I’m thinking of switching to 140’s to get more of an advantage at longer range. Recoil isn’t really an issue with either.

I have shot the 140s since starting with the Creedmoor first AMAX and now ELDs. No issues and recoil isn't bad. I plan on using some 147s this coming up year. With a brake I can't tell the difference in recoil.

I tried the 140 Hybrids, 142 SMKs, and 140 Barnes, as well as the 130 AR Hybrids.

My favorite bullet was the 140 Berger because I ended up with a really good load that was around 2910-2930 feet per second depending on the weather with good accuracy. The 130's were good at 2850fps and had less recoil.

I picked up an 8 pound of H4350 and I plan to reload a couple different rounds. I have a couple hundred 140 ELD-M's that I picked up yesterday and figured I'd play with them. The 140 Berger I've read good things about. How much and of what kind of powder are you using to get 2910-2930? Seating depth?

I use 43.1 grains of H4350 in a 260 Remington. If I was using Creedmoor I would probably start around 41 and go up to 42.5 grains.

I use Lilja 3 Groove barrels and they seem to be about 50fps faster than the Kreiger I had on my other rifle. I didn't believe the numbers at first but 2000 rounds later and the same load goes 2910fps in a little bit colder weather.

I have shot almost exclusively 140 or 142 in my .260Rem. I have one load with a 130 for hunting.

My kid got a B14HMR and since I had 1K of 120 ScenarLs, started him out with those. Very impressed, so now I am doing some work with 107s, 120s, 123s and I am thinking there is a strong possibility that is where I will end up with both of the 6.5 calibers for match. We use the 143 ELDx for hunting.

I've really been wondering if the recoil from the 107's was significantly less than the 140's.

If I pay attention, I can feel the difference between 140s and 120s. I don't have to pay attention to feel the difference between 107s and 140s. Significant, I guess that depends. I don't care much what my shoulder feels, but I want to be able to see impacts if I can do so without giving up something on my hit percentage. Of course that is going to be variable based on gun weight and what you have threaded on your muzzle.

I run 142SMK or 140RDF at 2825-2880fps. I don't think the lighter bullets have any advantage for me. Just loaded up some 123ELDs with imr4451 to test last weekend and got good groups at 2975fps. That doesn't compare very well to the 140 ballistics for wind drift.

I try to keep my 140s (same speed for berger eldm and nosler custom comps) at 2800 that's where I've learned they like to be for me they group well with proper seating debt.

130 ar otm hybrids I had screaming at 2950 but should have backed off but was to stuburn to lol. Now I'll only use 140s out of my 6.5x47 and 6.5cm bc of wind drift.
