24 inch RPR barell 6.5cm/ 147 grn eld /41.5 h4350/ OAL 2.800/ velocity avg 2640 still to slow ? safe to go higher with the powder maybe 41.8 next ? any thoughts would be great

I get 2740 out of my A.I. running an Accurate Ordinance 26” Brux cut rifled barrel. That’s with FACTORY Hornady 147 ELD-M. That’s 10 rounds across a Magnetospeed, so not a guess.

RL26 would probably be a better bet for pure velocity but you probably have a grain or so still with H4350

My shooting partner gets great results with RL16. Don’t know his exact load, but that’s his powder of choice. I have 4350 and 2# of RL16, just haven’t got going with it yet.
Aye, what they said. RL 16 or RL 26 will give you better velocity than H4350 if you're worried about it. Obviously use sound judgement, but I would personally check up to 42.5gr H4350 if it didn't show signs of blatant overpressure.
RL 26 or H1000 will get the velocity up safer then RL 16. Also have a RPR and 147s are cruising in the 2890s with 6SD using H1000. Make sure you use the magnum primers and I did not have good results yet with SRP brass mixed with RL 26. Small magnum primers also seem to be in short supply around these parts

With those 2 powders I have heard folks going past 2900. That's the upper limit I am comfortable shooting them. Using a barrel mounted magneto speed so I take my velocities with a grain of salt bit confirmed at 300' 500 and 700 drops are pretty much spot on with that punched into the app

Just started reloading and testing 6.5 CM shooting 147 gr. ELD-M in Factory once fired brass. Alliant RL26 is your friend...start at 43 gr. and work up. Stunning accuracy - more velocity with less pressure.
The BC on the 147's is Tits and with RL26 running them hot with little/no pressure signs it's a no brainer. High BC bullets running hot and heavy is outstanding in my machine.

That's music to my ears since I have lots of H1000 and RL26 seems to be hard to find were I'm at.
Have 500 of the 147eldm waiting and I hope that's what my 1-7.5 twist Bartlien barrel ends up liking since that is what I basically built it around.
Just need enough time at home to actually torque my new barrel in and bed the stock and start playing.
Use AICS PMAGS and you can get out to about 2.860". The AR style that comes with the rifle or if you buy them limits you to shorter OAL.
You should be able to get over 2640fps with a 24" Creedmoor but it depends on the barrel as some will reach pressure before getting more velocity. You can work up slow and see what your rifle does.
Rob I know you have quite a bit of time running the 147eldm just curious what your observation has been for COAL in the SAAMI spec chambers to the lands, just off of memory I think I was at 2.92" firmly into the lands on my new barrel.
Sounds like my memory is failing me then and to much crammed in there I might have been remembering my initial dummy rounds I made up. The Alpha mags I have will allow 2.965" so I have a little room for growth as the throat wears.

I ran 46.3 RL26, 215m primer in Peterson brass with danzac coated 147's @ 2855fps 2.855 coal. I backed off to 46.0 @ 2.845 for 2830 once the brass was on it's 3rd firing. In peterson brass you have less volume so for naked bullets 45.5 will be the top you should run. Hornady brass you have room for 2 more grains which will give high 2800's velocity with low pressure. Use a mag primer with Rl26 or H1000. My ES was 6fps for 10 shots on virgin and once fired brass with my load. Sub 2" groups at 600 and just awesome on windy days.
Find out with a coal gauge where you hit. I started very close to the lands @2.855. I don't have the book or rifle but if memory serves I was .004 off the lands. I started there and it shot so well went with it. Those bullets shot well every seating but my sd's and es were best close to the lands.

How much h1000 are y'all able to stuff in a case? I have a bunch of it.

Tight at 100 and opening further doesn't mean a bad bullet lot but a not optimum load. Just need to work with it some.
I did my usual ocw style workup, tweaked my seating depth, SD is close to if not single digit. Bug holes at 100 more often than not in testing but opens up on my 1000yd target.
My 140 eld is identical to my old amax load, similar es/SD and it's freakishly accurate. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I had some of the bad amax lots and the 147s are behaving like that.
I test at 100 and 300 for that reason. I have had bug hole groups at 100 and they opened at 300 so had to work on the load some. Didn't matter Es or sd numbers. But if you think it's the lots then try another lot and see what happens.
I've had great luck with the 147 ELDs out my MPA built rifle.
The barrel is 24" and throated for the 140 ELD, but 147s are shooting sub 1/2" in the 8 twist.

No signs of pressure in this particular rifle.
Goes without saying, but:
LOAD DATA IS FOR REFERENCE. START LOW AND WORK UP YOUR OWN SAFE LOAD.
Velocity ranges from 2720ish to 2750+ depending on temps.
Temps being 0 deg to 90+ deg, from dead of New England Winter thru middle of summer.
SDs are always single digits and ES's hover in the mid teens.
Additional Noes:
Brass is only neck sized between firings, with .002 neck tension from using bushing die.
And, the necks are turned to .0135 wall thickness and checked with micrometer.
Velocities measured with a Magneto Speed V3 mounted via spigot under barrel.
Rifle fired prone, bipod front with bag rear.
I've got a bunch more data if needed.

I am at 2654 with 41.8 with H4350 at this time. still to try 42.1 yet. this barrel also has 2,838 rounds through it.Gotta try the H1000 or RL26
You can bypass H1000, you won't fit enough of it in the case to have any meaningful velocity. H4831sc just barely works but velocity is less than what you can get with H4350. I have not tried RL26 but I can say RL16 will get you around 2750 at 42 grains given your current velocity.
There is nothing wrong with what your currently getting from your factory barrel. Another 100 fps only improves wind performance slightly at distance.
If your in a accuracy node at 41.5 (mine was 41.8) the next one will be around 42.8 (43 for me) with H4350.

I agree I was just wanting to get a little more velocity out of them.No preasure signs at all. I will just stay at 41.8 unless I see something going on with the brass I don't like I can just drop back down. I am getting 1/2 inch groups touching at 100yds with the lesser powder charges as well so the accuracy is still there.
This is what I was thinking. Quickload shows that h1000 is too sow for the case capacity and bullet weight.
Another very good powder for 147's and 150 sierria's is 4955. Use a mag primer in large primer brass for the slower powders. It actually helps the sd vs a typical powder load. The only srp brass to use with the slow powders is ADG and starline as they have the large .080 flash hole vs the .059 of Lapua and .60 from Peterson are just not able to show the consistency with Rl26. I didn't try H1000. IMR 4955 has some good speed with the heavy weights also. Not quite as much as Rl26 but more speed with less case head expansion than the 4350 class of powders. It shot the 142's .2 .3 right around the 2875 mark. I hit pressure at 2950 and the next .3 grains of powder in a hot barrel smoked the primer.
I am getting around 2740 with 41,8 gr of H4350 on the 147 gr eldm. Some of these guys getting 2900?!?!? That's pretty fast!
I would any data you have. I am shooting a savage evolution with a muzzle brake. 1:8 and 5r rifling. I don't have access to a chrono and I am curious on muzzle velocities with H4350. I am using Starline SRP brass
This weekend is my Grendel 129 load intital and 147 ELD creedmoor 2ndary tests. Exploring both nodes on the 147s and testing stability of charge with the +0.1 g variance and POI. Looking forward to see if I can get H1000 to work or if I stick to my RL16 load which is phenomenal in both 140 and 147.
I would like to know how compressed your charge is to pack 48.1 grains of any powder in a Creedmoor case. That would fill mine to the top of the neck!
I'm getting 2735-ish through my 24" Proof RPR with 41.2 of Reloder 17 in Prime brass and Remington 9 1/2 primers. No Pressure signs whatsoever.
