I got a 6.5 CM not too long ago and so far after sending some Hornady Black ammo DR, I really like it. I love to reload and love to hunt with reloads. I have been doing my research and think that I am going to shoot Berger bullets and specifically the 135 gr Classic Hunter had the best stability with my twist rate (per Berger Twist Rate Calculator).

Question 1. Have any of you guys used this particular bullet hunting big game; specifically, deer?

Question 2. Is there a better hunting bullet for the 6.5 CM to hunt big game? (I know that the possibilities can seem endless, but I am asking about those that have used it hunting).

Thank you guys in advance for your feedback!

I shoot the 135 bergers out of my creed and my saum and it flat performs!! I haven't shot any deer with them yet but on coyotes they hammer and not so fur friendly if you are into saving them. my creed is pushing them around 2900 with a 24" barrel and can and ive taken it out to 1400 yards with first round impacts on steel and well under moa accuracy!

The 143 eld-x is a hammer and very tough construction. $20 a box cheaper here than the Berger's.

The 147 eld-m is almost explosive. Tough enough for deer, but I'd use the x on elk.

That's the kind of info I was looking for. Thank you!

Where are you finding them for $20/box? I looked on Midsouth and Natchez SS, and they both have them for $33.

Buy the Berger ammunition loaded with 135 classics. They shoot great and you will have a supply of once fired lapua brass to reload. Bergers are a big game hammer. My 6.5 lapua loves that 135 as well.
