I have what I think is intresting question. If you took a 6.5mm barrel and chambered it 6.5x47L or 6.5 Creedmoor or .260 Remington would the accuracy node for each grain bullet be the same for all three. And if the answer is yes then why do they claim you can get more velocity out of a .260 if the node is the node.

1st 6.5 I had was a Creed now I've been running a 47L for 5 years I dont compete any more so next time should about 1000 more rounds think I'll try the .260 if you can it a faster node
Why mess with perfection? It also depends on the bullet. Some bullets you may not be able to hit the higher node even with a .260.

I run 142SMKs 2820 in a 6.5x47, 26" K&P barrel, 41.2gr H4350. Has over 3000 rounds on it and still shoots phenomenally.

147’s at a leisurely 2805 FPS.

As already mentioned, there is rarely only one good node for a specific bullet. Add to that that different bullets have different nodes in a given caliber. Throw in the fact that different cartridge case designs are more or less efficient and different powders burn better or worse in certain case designs. If this weren’t the case, then there would hardly be a need for any different cartridges for any one specific caliber, now would there?

Oddly (or not?) enough my 6.5x47 runs 142smks at 2830 in a 26" mullerworks with 37.6 grains Varget. Only at 1400 rounds though so far. Excellent speed/bullet/case combo.

I had never owned any rifle in 6.5mm until a couple years ago though I grew up hunting with a Carl Gustof custom 6.5x55 that my dad owned.
Before I finished building the 6.5CM on an atlas action I started building a 6.5x47 as well.
Now I'm thinking the Tikka t3 I have in 270win would be a prime candidate for a 260AI throated long and keep the long action magazines and sporter config for a hunting rifle.
More case capacity to run some of the heavy offerings that are available now and excellent brass from Lapua.
I'm sure it seems redundant to some but each has a different role for me.
The 6.5x47 has a 1-8 24" barrel and all I plan on running in it are 130hybrids and under.
The 65CM has a 1-7.5 23" barrel that all I have shot in it primarily is the 147eldm and 150smk.
