6,5x47 Lapua brass forming from...?

Hello to all,
now are a bad historical tyme for shooting and ammo reloading, components are too expensive or not availlable respect some years on the past...

The bad situation are more amplified for all the non "commercial" calibers like 6,5x47 Lapua.

100pcs of 6,5x47 Lapua now start from 145€ plus shipping, and other brand are more expensive than Lapua...

I tried to forming some .308 to x47 Lapua but more neck to form and trim are tedious ...., turning the neck need some extra stuff...
Parent case like .243 are the same...
22-250 are unvaillable from the range and the brand new are expensive like the 6,5x47 Lapua..
Remain the 6,5 Creedmoor, 2mm more on lenght maibe are not a problem for the neck thikness(?)

Can someone have tried to for an x47 Lapua case fro a 6,5 Creedmoor, with wath result?

I dont like buy some extra stuff only for shooting gong.

I've had a couple of 6.5x47L and I think it's a great cartridge but in this day and age it doesn't make sense to shoot it any more. May be cheaper/ easier to rebarrel to Creedmoor. And if you want the same quality of brass as the 145 euro x47L Lapua brass for the Creedmoor the cost is probably similar. The easiest solution is probably to just pay Lapua what they want.

Camillo, my only guess is that because you are in Italy it may be best to just buy the 6.5x47 Lapua brass and use up this barrel, and then see if anything else becomes easier for you when that time comes.

The 145 Euro isn't much more than what we are facing here with 6.5x47 Lapua brass. We are seeing $148 USD and that is if we are lucky enough to find it at all.

This is one of the problems with all the war demand these days. And it is unlikely to get better any time soon.

Yes the price for x47 brass are the same of other brass, but the Creedmoor are availlable for picking a the range or second hand 1st fired for about 5cent or a bit more.

Anywere this my request are not only for the brass price and Is unvaillability but also for elevate my level of marksman.

Hello, today I made some test with Hornady 6,5 Creedmoor brass.

I have annealed the brass before forming with 6,5x47 Lapua Redding Body Die.

Started slowly and rotated the case 1/3 every little movement.

But on the shoulder of the case whe ave some wrinkles.

Can someone tell me why?

That usually happens when you have too much lube on the case and it doesn't have anywhere to go in the die so it pushes into the brass. But in your case I think it's because you're trying to shrink the brass. And of course you can't shrink it. The excess brass has to go somewhere when you're smashing it from just about every dimension. So it's buckling down away from the die. It may correct on the first firing but I think this is a pretty unnatural thing the brass is going through so I wouldn't be surprised if accuracy and/ or SDs suffers during that firing.
