Hey Y'all,
I've been toying around with getting an AR in 6.8 but I'm having a bit of a time finding reasonable ammo prices. Locally, the only ammo I can find is Hornady at $30 a box! Hopefully I'll be reloading this round soon after getting the rifle but is this ammo just that much more expensive???

Granted, I haven't searched the internet ammo dealers yet.

Man, if it's that expensive to shoot I may reconsider. After all, it's a semi-auto. I'll be running thru it pretty quick!

You're going to have to reload for this thing to keep it reasonable. Factory ammo is kinda pricey...

But I don't regret getting my 6.8, the thing is a shooter.

When you go to buy brass, you can get brass that will take large or small rifle primers...I went with large as they seem to be more abundant right now (and I'm sitting on several thousand of them)

Re: 6.8 SPC ammo...

You can catch sales at Silver State - for example - 22 dollars a box for 100 GR Accubonds is a pretty good deal and you can get 110 GR Accubonds for a deal several times a year. Plus plinking ammo for under $20. Not too bad. Try getting hunting ammo for under 30 bucks for most calibers - hard to find.

I have started to reload 6.8mm because any reloads are cheaper over buying from the manufacture. Also, Silver State has a sale on now for 100 cases for 42 dollars. Not too bad either.

I am a big fan of hunting with a 6.8 plus I can use my 223 AR lowers. It is light and handy and has good knock down power.

Its going to run somewhere around $13.50 per box and will make the 6.8 seem more affordable.

Thanks, Lin </div></div>

That's good to know. I'm putting a 6.8 together right now and that will be perfect for plinking and starting my brass collection.
