Has anyone here done any scientific "testing" on the 6.8spc to see what kind of velocity is lost when going from a 16" barrel down to a 12" or even a 10.5"? I realize this is dependent upon ammo but I was looking more for a "ball park" number. I like the idea of a 12" but I am not wanting to give up to much velocity and or even accuracy.

Re: 6.8spc velocity vs barrel length

Check out the 68Forums. A few guys with the right barrels are getting around 2800-2900FPS from a 12.5" using 85-90gr loads. That number will go down as the bullet weight goes up but the 6.8 does perform well as a SBR.

I'd use no less than 11.3" which would be a Wilson Combat pipe. However, if the choice was given, a 12.5" ARP from H.

I can't wait to see what numbers LWRC is getting from their Six8....
