6 dasher vs 6XC vs 6BR

Which one is good for me?
I currently live close to a 200yd range, and seldom go to the 600yd range (because I need to drive 2 hours to there one way)
Looking for a real accuracy caliber.
Run in Bighorn or Impact Precision action.
My friend has a barrel can sell to me, that barrel is 7.5 tw can do any caliber in 6mm.
Please briefly talk about what you think.

6br is king. No need for the hassle of the dasher, or the speed of the 6xc. Load a 105 over 30.5 varget and go shoot some tiny groups.

I have a 20” Dasher, love it, 107s @ 2800 with a typical charge of Varget...but in hindsight probably shoulda just done a 22” 6BR but I was concerned about feeding and ejecting.

200 yards? Seems like buying a 6mm barrel just cause a friend has one is a waste when you could get the same performance from a much cheaper platform

I can give up buying a barrel from my friend.
But I really want caliber in 6mm
I figure out PVA have a 6BR barrel in stock (For TL3), but I already have a bighorn action /w 6.5PRC.
Impact Precision has a 6 Dasher barrel in stock.

Between 6BR and Dasher I would say they have the same accuracy potential, but the 6BR is less finicky and less work (no need to fire form, etc). Really there is no reason to choose a Dasher over a 6BR at those distances.

With what you said you want, the 6br is your best choice.
Under 600 yds. and mostly for 200 yds. wind won't be a factor
so you don't need the speed as the others will give you, and you can find most of the reloading
components easier than the rest and the others, no fire forming brass,
just load and shoot. lower recoil, if you can measure the difference.
He's a post from the PRS shooters. Read it not so much from their point
and go half way down and see how accurate it is. You can compare it
to the others.

The PRS target has some around 1000yd, so 6 dasher can provide higher fps.

If I was shooting 600 yards and in I wouldn’t want to be supplying the funds to shoot a 6mm.

I shoot 350 yards with my Vudoo .22.

You don’t want a .223 but that’s the clear winner in this situation.

Back to the OP, 6 BR all the way - especially inside 600. It and it's Dasher counterpart are the most inherently accurate and easy to load for cartridges i've ever owned.

I agree, like me 90％ go to the 200yd range. 10％ go to the 600yd range. I got a 6.5PRC, its nice to shoot over 600yd. But back to truth there is no 1000yd range in my 3 hours one way driving range. So I will give up my new rifle hit 1000yd. Just superb accuracy in 600yd and nice look 100yd group. lol.

22cal works but not fun for me. I owned an anschutz for a long time to shoot 100yd. It works well and no reloading not expensive ammo.

I have to admit, I switched from a 6mm Creedmoor to a 223 Ackley and 22BR, and they are a hell of a lot more fun.

And very inexpensive to shoot. I run the 80gr ELD-M from the 223 Ackley and the 88gr ELD-M from the 22BR. 25grs 8208 XBR and 28grs Varget respectively. 3000fps from the Ackley, 3070fps from the BR. They are killers...

Easy to load for and most importantly it is inherently more accurate than everything but the 6 PPC.
On a horrible day it is extremely accurate.

Own 6br and 6Dasher rifles personally. For your intended purpose 6br will do everything you want and need!

The 6br will have a little longer throat life, less powder used and the longer neck is nice if handling rounds roughly.

@Birddog6424 was the switch from 6 creed to the 22s for a training/fun rifle or are you shooting comps with those calibers?

Only issue with the BR family is mags and feeding issues on std short actions. Dasher feeds better than BR on ave. That and the extra velocity are the reasons it’s more popular in PRS. The BR case is a great size for varget. The XC is great for h4350. The dasher has its down side that you have to fireform. But the fire forming loads are accurate so if you are just plinking, not a huge deal. XC has great brass in Alpha. BR/Dasher as well in Lapua.

Impact actions are great and with them and others selling profit barrels it makes it easy to get replacements.

Honestly. It really doesn’t matter, they all shoot little groups. Get whatever you think is cool. I like my 6xc, but nothing wrong with a BR or dasher.
