I want a scope that can be used up to 600 yards. This is for a 20" flat top ar 15. I was thinking about this scope.

What do you guys think? I want it to be 4.5 MAG for close range and preferably to 14 MAG for long range. 50mm, tube size no preference, mil dot and I don't know what else information you need, possibly illuminated for moving targets(if shtf?)

A zero stop would be good too I'm new to this so feel free to recommend what ever else features you think. Try to keep it under $500.00.

Re: 600 yard scope

I have an older Similiar to that in a 6-18. Not bad scopes for the money. I got a deal on it for cheap under $100 brand new otherwise I would not have bought it. If your looking to keep it under $500 you can do much better than that. I would if I were you! There are lots of 4-14 scopes out there for $250-$450 with a lifetime warranty. Just depends if you want you piece to maintain the tactical look. If your looking at good lower end tactical Bushnell has a 3200 elite in a few options. Good luck!

Re: 600 yard scope

I think a Bushnell is a good option. I am using a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14. I have two and like them so far. They are what I can afford and they seem to be very reliable. I have a rifle coming that will be able to wring out their real potential, and I am hoping I will not be dissapointed because I won't be able to afford better glass at any time in the near future. They seem to be repeatable when I shoot at the steel plate matches here, but I haven't had the chance to check the accuracy of the adjustments. I don't have a good opportunity to shoot at greater than 4-500 very often, so it is hard to get a good read on the drops to see if the adjustments exactly do as they should. The optics seem to be good anough for the ranges I am shooting, and the eye relief is good for me. I think they are hard to beat for around $300.

I was going to say Buckmaster but some don't like the "hunting" look on an AR. I have several and have NO issue with them at all. When target turrets are on them they're close enough to "tactical" for me. They ARE hard to beat. Get yourself one in a 6-18 on ebay for under $300, or from a swell guy on SH. They still come with turrets I think? Not sure of your twist but get yourself a 1:8 or 1:9 and some 69gr. SMK's and your set to hit that 600 yd mark. CD
