Ok, so after a lot of soul searching and thinking about my goals...

Am considering a 6creed barrel swap on my mega maten mkm.

My thought was, using a 24" bull profile.. target crown and a +3 rifle gas setup. Jp HP bolt and barrel extension on a quality barrel blank.

I see plenty of 105berger and 107 smk loads that are hitting 3000fps from 22" barrel. Goal is not to see any more velocity than that. However, I am thinking that a slightly longer tube and more delayed gas... will allow using a 110smk or similar secant vld with a bobsled.

Notion was magazine feed tangent rounds and when wanting to stretch out at 1000 yards or so.. I could single feed a tailored load.

Has anyone used the vld's as such and had decent results?

Was thinking 4350 and 4831sc powders would be a good start. Probably going cheap and using starline srp brass. .003" neck tension and loading around 2.78" or so with the 107smk. I was given some decent load data.

Any and all insight is helpful. If you have a long barreled gasser running similar, share your experiences. Also.. if this is a fruitless notion - rip my ass raw with explicit reasoning as to why.

Use would be longer range shooting. Hunting, prs and bench. Yeah, it will be a heavy rifle.. but a few short sprints between positions or a slow ruck march to a stand/hide.. should not kill me. Yet...

Make sure your twist rate is 1n7 at least... for the heavier projectiles, and dependent on your typical shooting elevation. ( Sea level might produce better results with a faster twist... above 5,000.. slightly slower, at least science wise... YMMV )

I don't know for sure... but I don't think a +3 gas length would be needed... +2 would be fine.

You might find this barrel cutdown chrono info useful.

And you are right about it being a heavy rifle... I would consider asking whomever is turning your barrel, what they think. Just a thought.
I have a 24" 308 barrel that is so heavy, I could easily beat someone to a pulp with it. ( Heckuva deal though )

How does it do from a bipod, seated or kneeling/standing supported? Outside being a burden fit for mule. You retain sight picture; can watch rounds drop in?

I might just be lucky but a 1-7.7" twist stabilizes 110SMK's and 112 Matchburners in my 6 Grendel at 700-1000 ASL. Could be the exception not the rule though.

It looks like 22 to 24" is ideal.

I am thinking the +3 and 24" would allow to get the slower powder enough time to burn. Whereas a +2 and 22" tube would about be comparable.

Maybe a tapered contour would be less to haul...

Is anyone having decent results with the secant vld's like 110smk?

That barrel sounds like a lot of work. Why not just get a Proof 24" +3. Comes with it's own gas tube and sounds like all the specs you want. Use an adjustable gas block and a JP SCS with three tungsten weights and tune the spring weight after setting the gas to lock back on an empty mag.

I just put together a 6.5 Creed using their barrel and JP parts. It was extremely easy to get running right and is as accurate as a bolt gun.
Appreciated. You mean a carbon wrapped barrel?

Sent you a pm.. turns out I asked a few questions you already answered.. looks like ergo grip. Running an atlas cal bipod - is it gen2; What drove your choice of that instead of the psr?

Like that ergo grip? One of those been on my list for a while.

Awful sharp looking. I looked at proof. They sell the 24" barrel in all stainless. Not sure if I can swallow $1000 for a barrel to be burned out in little to no time. They claim it has better life by my comprehension of website commentary..

What suppressor?

I had thought about buying the SCS and HP bolt. I know someone with scs on a suppressed 7.62. It was pretty slick, even when pushing 175gr's at max pressure. 18" barrel showing good groups around 2500fps.. if memory serves.

Just curious what your load data looks like?

Also, is proof making their own barrels or buying rifled blanks? Wondering if they are broached, buttoned or single point cut. Not that it really matters... so long it shoots true.

Appreciate you, very much.

Who makes this switchblock? That the noveske model? What twist and how much powder?

Thank you

Seekins. It is a 1-7.5 I believe.

The lever is right in front of the rail so it’s perfect. I added about 2 clicks above bolt lock open. And it shoots soft and dreamy.

I purchased a shit Ton of factory 6 creed during the pandemic as it was available everywhere. So I’m still going through that

I have 3 rifles in 6 creed now. As availability has been good throughout.

I plan on using h4350 as I have a large stock of that also. And prolly stick with the 108 eldm

Any feeding issues? I remember threads of yesteryear that discussed 6.5 and 6mm creeds having issues with the barrel feed cone projectiles(especially vld secant) would drive into the feed cone, before the ogive would contact barrel extension/star chamber feedramps.

Interested in knowing more. Please share all you are able to.

Thank you!!

no issues here. Mine runs like a top. From m110 mags or Pmags. Never had an issue once I gassed it right.

in its factory form it was obviously very overgassed suppressed.
