I currently own a 22-250 umar so my mag length is 2.42. I was thinking about a dtech 243 wssm upper 1/8 22inch to shoot 105-108 grain bullets. When I read about the 6mm creedmore it seems like similar performance but will cost me 2k more because I would have to buy a gap10. It will be used for shooting prairie dogs out past 600 yards and someday 1000. I have 5 other prairie dog guns for short range this will be long range only. I also wanted less recoil than my 6.5-284. What are the pros and cons?

I had a Dtech 24 inch bull barrel upper I unfortunately had a cleaning issue that ruined it. It was superbly accurate. I have the exact same dilemma. both are excellent choices. I think your choice of the 22 250 lower is perfect for your situation. the issue is weight. the ar 10 platform is very heavy, more mass moving, definitely harder to shoot. The wssm was rather easy to shoot. Being on an ar15 platform more parts are available. My future build will probably be to buy an ASA side charging upper and send it to Dtech and he can overbore the reciever to accept the bigger barrel extension, put on a 22" barrel to cut a little weight. Maybe go with a lighter weight handguard, prs rifle stock, and shoot75's for speed and 105's for range. Trust me, weight is an issue you appreciate if carrying all day. If it is a bench gun for shooting varmints probably not an issue. Also the gap platform has a higher sight rail negating the use of standard height one piece scope mounts. Mike at Dtech is very knowledgable and innovative. I have been to his shop twice in MN. He loves to talk shop and his solutions to problems that plague other builders. That being said GAP is a fantastic choice as well.

That's not entirely accurate. The GAP10 actually has an option for a Badger one piece mount that gets the 50mm objective as close to the rail as possible. If you look at a picture of a GAP10 you will notice the front rail is notched to allow the objectives to easily clear most one piece mounts.
OP - you said you would have to spend $2000 more for a GAP10.... did you buy your current AR15 for $640.00? They start at $2640.00.

The GAP10 is an awesome platform, I have mine in 6 Creedmoor and its a joy to shoot. The only recoil you have to consider is the impulse from the carrier moving. Not a hard gun to manipulate at all. Its the best shooting semi auto gun I have ever handled.

I bought the UMAR for 1050 and it has the PRS stock, ergo grip, and Geissele super dynamic enhanced trigger. The Dtech upper is 1200 with fluted barrel and threading. The Gap 10 with the fluting, threading, stock and trigger upgrade will be around 3350. So it would cost me $2150 more to go with the GAP10. I know the GAP10 is awesome but if I can get the same performance from an Ar15 size rifle it is hard to pass up.

I have a 6 cm also. Probably same setup as him. 23" with PRS. I have shot 105 Berger and amax. Both shoot really well, I have never hand loaded for it though.
I don't have a scale but it's heavy, not super heavy.
Found an old scale it shows 14.5lb with badger unimount, 5.5-22 NXS and a empty PMAG.

I cleaned with a semi corrosive solvent and would store the rifle horizontal on its bipod. Solvent always gets a little in the gas port and must be blown out. it slowly dripped out after a cleaning and eroded the opposite side of the barrel from the gas port. Probably wouldn't have been a problem if stored upright.
