You can push it faster. The next node up was 3120 fps,the bolt wasn't sticky yet.The problem is throat life.I only got 1500 rounds out of my last barrel. You're probably better off with 6mm Crusader.Slower powder, more of it=less pressure/more velocity.

Re: 6x47 lapua 115 loads

The 6mm crusader will push it faster, but I don't think you can use the extra horsepower. I have a good friend who shoot his 6x47 at 600y benchrest. He told me if he pushes the bergers to hard they can fall apart. I read the same thing about the crusader. Out of the 6x47, 6mm lr, and 6x47 lapua, the lapua requires the least brass prep IMO. All three will push the heavy bullets to there max. I went with the lapua for less brass prep, lapua brass, and shorter coal.
I'm no 6mm expert, and I'm sure there are quite a few people here who could give much better info on choosing one of the three. This is just my opinion.

Re: 6x47 lapua 115 loads

Casey,

Here's a tip for you! Try the new Berger hybrid 105's. They have close to the same BC as the 115's. You can get them to 3200fps in a 30" tube. Proper throating is key, but there are negatives...

The throat will get torched quickly, the brass won't last as long and you're rifle might not shoot well at 3200fps.

Do you really think 100fps is going to help you be a better shooter or give you a significant advantage in a match with drop or drift?

I've thought about doing a 6x47L AI but I defer to the above.

Re: 6x47 lapua 115 loads

I thought if I pushed the 115 fast enough it would perform better at longer ranges for hunting. My gun smith has a 6x47 and it a Tac driver. He shot two deer one at 200yrds and one at 400 yards and the bullet didn't blow up. I do want to go with either the 6.5x47 or the 6x47. I'm just trying to figure out witch one would push a bullet fast enough to make it perform. I'm stuck! Lol the 6x284 is awesome on game but It goes through bbl's. People does say they kill deer out to 1k with a 6x284 pushing it at 3400fps with one shot kills. So I thought if I was able to push it 3200 it would do the same at 600yrds.

Re: 6x47 lapua 115 loads

The 6.5x47L will do all you want. No case prep, accuracy beyond belief and longer barrel life. I can get 3000 fps with a 123 gr pill and 25" tube with ragged one hole 5 shot groups at 100 yards.
