Kicking around the idea of building a 7-300 norma. I have a 300 norma that will need a new barrel soon and wanted to maybe get a 7-300 barrel spun up to shoot the 190 berger LRHT's. Looking to qualify in weight for light or hunter class at the ELR matches near me (sub 16 lbs). I want to run is suppressed with my Thunderbeast Magnus RR which should be done soon. Having a lighter bullet should make shooting a light gun suppressed a bit more manageable and I like to switch stuff up anyway.

Most targets would be between 800-1800 in moderate wind. I shoot the most between 4000-6000 feet elevation.

few questions

What velocities could I expect if I run a shorter barrel (24").

How's barrel life? probably in the 700's?

What twist? I would guess 1:8?

There was a guy running one in the squad ahead of me at Nightforce match this past weekend, he was first or second in Hunter class. He said 800 ish rounds on a barrel. 190's at 3170 ish. I'm not sure what barrel length that was.

That's the match I was thinking about building it for, especially since being in open means you get screwed at the prize table now haha.

That's about the velocities I was wanting to get. should be more comfortable then trying to lighten my 300 norma.
