7.5 lb .300 Win Mag Recoil - Brakes

Thinking about getting a 7.5 pound with scope .300 win mag and shooting 215 grain bullets out of it. How badly will it recoil with a muzzle brake? This T1 terminator break is pretty impressive. Does anybody have any real world experience to backup the claims that a break can reduce the recoil from a .300 RUM down to a .243? Is the noise bearable with plugs and muffs, or do you still go deaf?

The barrel that I want to put the brake on is .600" in diameter. Any other suggestions on brakes?

I have a Score High Hunter break on my 300WM and shoot 210& up projectiles , noise is not bad , recoil reduction is about like my FN SPR with 178 grain bullets ( My SPR fully loaded is 18 lbs no break ) pretty mild . Before the break it bordered on masochism !

I have the same brake on a 7.5lb 300 WSM which is not unpleasant to shoot. Without the brake it was flat painful to shoot. Vais brakes are effective on hunting rigs and have one on a McM 300WM Outdoorsman. Only downside is that ports on the bottom of brake will kick up lots of dust.

If you run a break on a 300 win run muffs. The shock can transfer via the bones in your skull and actually damage the small bones in your ears. Muffs stop this from happening.
No harm in running muffs with ear plugs. Think if you run both it would be impossible to cause hearing damage unless you had really bad ones.
MSA Sordins with the gel are worth the money.

I'm running an APA little bastard on my 8lb 300wm shooting Berger 215's and Hornady 212's. Reduces the recoil greatly and simple Peltor muffs take care of the noise.

For the money, it's hard to beat s Badger Thruster. They are about 80$ and recoil is almost nonexistent but it is loud.
