Please excuse my ignorance on this question if it comes off appearing that way but Is it safe to assume that brass from Lake City marked LC is 7.62x51 and is not 308?
Thanks

If marked LC (and nothing else), assume it is 7.62, which will have less internal space, therefor higher pressure with same powder charges.
Thanks
All the brass does have a 2 digit number on it is this the year of manufacture?
Also some does have what I'm assuming is the NATO cross the stuff marked match is void of the cross.

All Lake City brass is 7.62mm, produced at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.

If it has the NATO "Circle-cross" symbol at the top of the headstamp it is for 7.62mm Ball and other bullets, or Mark 318 Special Ball ammunition loaded for USSOCOM at the Federal Gold Medal Match production line at Anoka, Minnesota. The primer will be crimped.

If it is marked "Match" the primer pockets are not crimped and there will be crenellation marks around the circumference of the case.

If it marked "LR" it is for M118 Long Range.

Primers are not crimped into Match and Long Range ammunition primer pockets.

yes,in my opinion_
if you could specify the reason behind this doubt/fear, I'm sure that someone here could give you some better answer_

Don't know if it's fear or doubt but my issue is that I'll be shooting the ammo out of a new Noveske 7.62 21" barrel (no muzzle device just a thread protector) and I'd like to keep it all 7.62 and keep any .308 ammo out of it

I'm just trying to get the best accuracy out of the barrel and am trying to eliminate any parameters that may affect accuracy (if that make any sense).

I have no real world experience with this round in this barrel, any info I have on it "I read it on the internet" and have tried to decipher the good from the bad, the true from the false.

For example I've read on a few sites not to shoot the 308 in a 7.62 barrel ( .308 Winchester vs. 7.62x51mm NATO )

I copied this from the FAQ's on the Noveske site-

".308 Win vs 7.62x51 NATO ammo for the N6
While most .308 Win will function in our N6 rifles we recommend quality 7.62x51 NATO ammunition.
Some commercial .308 Win ammunition may not function through the N6 rifle due to improper projectile design for a semi auto or the lack of a staked primer."

So that's what led me to ask the question regarding the LC ammo.

I apologize for my childish choice of words: that's coming from my poor grammar only_ Your question is more than legit, anyway:
7.62x51 chambering SAAMI specs. aren't necessarily the same as commercial .308Win chambering ,the things could become even more worthing of attention about the various reloading factory recipes for bolt or s/a,etc.,and it's really a never ending (learning/experimenting) history_ back on LC brass only, I doubt you could be disappointed: properly cared, it's my main (happy) choice on my 7.62x51 s/a_ staked or unstaked primer isn't an issue, in my experience, under the shooting and/or functional point of wiew_
