7.62 NATO LPVO

I am about to put glass on an HK MR762 and I am looking at 3 options. Looking for actual user experience.

1 - Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6
2 - Trijicon Credo HX
3 - Nightforce ATACR 1-8

Not crazy about the FOV on the NF but I am a big fan of unlimited eye relief

Opinions please.

I think a large frame gas gun needs a little more mag. I doubt you'll be doing any run-n-gun in reality. 4-16x42 ATACR. Mk5HD 3.6-18

I own the HD II E and the ATACR.

The Razor lives on a Colt M4A1 and the ATACR is mounted on a SCAR 17.

I like the ATACR more. I prefer the reticle on the ATACR. I like having more mag on the 7.62 gun. FFP works better at the higher mag.

I’m currently on a suppressor buying binge, but once I get that out of my system I will replace the Razor on the Colt with another ATACR.

My 1-8 nx8 is enough to get to 1k and not too thick that a shot completely obscures a 1moa plate at 1k.

I run out of easy use reticle at 900yrds when holding over.

Maven optics has a new lpvo out. 1-10 decent reticle. Illuminated. Would be a good option to look at for under $2k

I'm going to say the MR762 rifle is more of a DMR rifle and less of a CQB rifle.

You might be able to be fine with 2x or 3x on the low end to get more on the high end.
Then just put a 45 degree RDS on it as well in case well you actually have to CQB with it by some odd chance.

On the MR556 a 1-10 LPVO would be great.

Then it won’t matter. Pick any of them. They are all supposed to hold up well on a 7.62 gasser.

It would help if you could get behind them before buying to see which one you like best, preferably outdoors with the diopter set up for your eyes.

There are a ton of threads on here about this topic and some great linked videos that compare that range of scopes. SuperSetCA on YouTube does excellent reviews with top-notch camera work behind each reticle showing pros and cons of them.

Another vote for you to take a look at the Vortex Razor G3 1-10x. It is a very capable scope.

Try a 2.5-10 power. On a 7.62 battle rifle 1-8 just falls short IMHO. Heck, when I took "urban counter sniper" the instructor had me clearing rooms with it. lts a little heavier than an LVPO but with prsctice it works almost like an acog at closer rsnges

The Gen 2E is a very nice scope if 6x is enough for your eyes.The NF 2.5x10x42mm compact would also be a fine scope for your rifle.I own both and like then.

I like the vortex but something 3-15X would be much better for that rifle. You'll probably be shooting off a bench or bipod at 100 yard targets and steel or clay birds or whatever at a local range and not running/gunning. If you go with an LPVO you'll have it on max power all the time, you'll probably have to create a situation for yourself just to use the 1x, unless you plan on taking this rifle to some CQB carbine type class?

That was basically my situation: "Well shit, I'm at 8x almost all the time and more often than not I want more magnification than less." So 3-20x did the trick.

For field of view with an lpvo, get a Kahles K18i-2 with the dialing turret.

I know you did not mention the plxc 1-8 griffin mil as an option, but I think it should be in the mix for its solid 1x performance and ok 8x performance. Although I think the razor III 1-10 would be a better option if you are leaning more towards higher 10x magnification performance with still good 1x performance.

I agree. My 16” 7.62 semi has a 5-25x because why dick around trying to squint to see at distance.
