7 saum in 20 inch barrel?

I’m getting a barrel spun up and not sure what caliber I want! Like to be able to shoot to a mile and hunt most North American game to 6-7 hundred yards. I have a desert tech covert is the reason for short barrel as I’d like to keep it compact. Thanks for any advice!

Probably get 168’s at 2850 or a bit more or 180’s at 2800
both will get you to mile easily.

Just do it , you know it wont be the optimal barrel length for a mile but you can still make hits if you can read the wind well. Everything is a compromise just build what suits your needs and have fun shooting. You can always do a different length if you want after you shoot the barrel out .
