Hello I’m looking at changing my rem 700 BDL 30.06 to accept aics mags, (easily said). Now the mags I want to run are aics mdt mags with an outside diameter of 3.30” for the 30.06/6.5x55. I know I have to inlay the factory BDL stock. The big question is what bottom metal do I use for these mags? I can’t seem to figure it out. everything I find seems to me a 3.715” mag not 3.30” and I wanted it to be a flush fit mag well with extended mag for aesthetic purposes any help would be greatly appreciated Thankyou so much

If you really like the aesthetics of a flush fit, stay with BDL. There may very well be mags that are flush fit but I do not know of any, even the old Remington mag fed factory semi-autos were not flush.

3.3” is for the medium length xm wsm mags, is it not?

Standard long action is 3.75 and what I would be looking towards with a 3006

Mdt makes a flush mag but it’s either for the medium length xm (not long action), or for the 3.85 cip long action mags.

If you have a factory rem 700 in 3006, it’s not an xm med action, you have a long action. You’ll need a long action mag and bottom metal.

If you want to use the medium length mags then you will need a medium length action and a medium length bottom metal.
Ok understandable now does anyone make a long action 30.06 10 round aics mag?

I very much appreciate the help I have yet to hear of a medium action in 30.06 they lied the confusion I very much appreciate it nonetheless does anybody know if a 10 round 30.06 aics magazine is made for a LA?

See if LRI can produce their DBM in long action.

Maybe they already do.

I have their DBM on a .308 and it has worked great with the three round flush mag it comes with as well surplus USMC AI, 5 rounders.

That rifle looks amazing what barrel brand and length did you go with I’m guessing m40 contour?
Bartlein.

Length is short, contour is as fat as @Frank Green makes carbon steel blanks. I would have went a hair fatter but I wanted to Parkerize the entire BA.

I know it’s a LH gain twist at a fast ratio that I pulled out of my ass for no other reason than to want to try it.

It has shot well and I don’t attribute that to my genius only that all the parts are quality and it was built well.

Twenty rounds of 175FGMM on a 4” circle at 300 yards.
