Maybe I'm a wierdo or not normal, but for some reason I carry my hunting rifle slung on my left side. No matter how much I try, it kicks the GIANT safety knob off safe on rem style trigger assemblies... Normally on western hunts, I would just carry the rifle without a round in the chamber, but I hunt sitka Black Tail every year on Baranof Island in SE AK. It just so happens that Baranof seems to be a breeding ground for rather large Brown Bears. The Rifle I use is a Nosler Mountain Carbon in 33 Nosler, but the Rem clone action's safety drives me crazy! Is there something you can do to make that safety stiffer, or lock somehow?? I was thinking maybe the arm could be bent slightly towards the stock, and the stock carved to fit the arm when in safe, so that you would have to push the arm towards the action and them move it forward to disengage the safety?? I love the rifle, but am seriously thinking maybe a Browning with the tang safety, but then I would have to move to a .338 wm or a 30 Nosler??
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated...
