I know how controversial long range hunting can be. Thought you would love to see this one.

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

Im gonna call BS on this one. Even stoked up to max with a 45cal saboted bullet theres still gonna be a 20-30 ft drop or more at that range. Plus I even doubt his scope would have enough elevation to even put him in the ballpark without a drastic MOA base on it. Geezus.........

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

iShoot, my smith just made a 45cal inline muzzleloader that is pushing a 350g projectile over 3000fps for a guy in Ohio. He has been taking deer with it out to 700yds. If your interested, i can get you his contact info. Its an amazing gun

Why not just shoot a damn centerfire? </div></div>

You can't in some states.

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

For eastern MD (every county other than Garrett, Allegheny and Washington) this would change things up. I would have to put down the 1100 for the season if i got my hands on this.

Pretty sure anywhere you got antelope, you can shoot a centerfire.

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

lets not forget that a encore muzzel loader shoots with the exact same ballistics when using a 250 bullet as a 45-70. I am pretty sure there was a lot of buffalo killed at long distance and open sights back in the day

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

Thats crazy....

Couldn't tell if it was smokeless or not but I have a friend out west that hunts with nothing but his smokeless muzzleloader and from the ballistics he has told me I could see that happening in the right hands. It should almost be illegal for a muzzleloader to achieve what the smokeless one can now. Kinda a game changer!

It has taken forever for us to be allowed to legally use scopes here in Georgia on muzzleloaders. They said it was taking the challenge out of it.

Do they also post the video of their misses? Or of the wounded game? Sorry. I have more respect for my game than to try a STUNT like that.

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

Nightforce scope on a muzzle loader...nice. Yup, I'd like to know the specs on the kit. If it's antelope...you can use centerfire. They may have been hunting in the muzzleloader only season. If he had range time...hey, go for it.

Muzzle Loader Season

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

With a rig like this what is the point to a muzzle loader season. You might as well be shooting a centerfire. I thought muzzle loader season was for the guys that wanted more of a challenge and needed to get closer to there game to make a good kill on it.

I'm pretty sure that muzzle loader isn't legal in WA during our muzzle loader season. We only are allowed exposed primers and have other "non-modern" restrictions.

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

I know that we have rules in this state for keeping them non modern. But i still see muzzle loaders here taking longer and longer shots because their gear is getting closer to centerfire rifles

Are you serious? Do you realize that 308's have the same drop at 1000 yards, and many people shoot them well beyond that?

He's running a NF, my last NF had 19 mils of elevation after zeroing at 100 yards on a flat base.
