Very, very cool. A guy one town over has one that's obviously a project that'll never get finished and I'm sooooo tempted.

Well gentleman, I remember walking down the street with my uncle and seeing an fj80 parked. I said ,"I always wanted one of those," and he said, "well then if you want one then you can buy one". So I did.

Hmmm.
One of those, pre-64 in AAA walnut, a 20g LC SxS, a built Colt series 70, 20 yr Oban (it exists, had some once), and a fine woman with a southern accent.
Just dreamin, pay a fella no mind....

Of note, it could be a sweet old restored pickup with similar upgrades. A bench seat for that gal to slide to the middle....

I remember driving one with the hard top off, summertime, two hotties, Michigan ave. just off of Oak street beach.....stunning day, can still remember the whiff of sunscreen from the sun drenched blondes.

Get it and come wheeling with us.

I sat on top of that hill most of this morning. Bunch of guys in Florida were coming in like they were right next to me, not sure what kinda rig lets you do that, but it was pretty cool.

Yeah, not sure what they were doing was legal, but they had regular call signs and everyone seemed to know each other. Some guy "Ground Zero" around Waco, Tx. "White trash" in Gainesville, Florida, the rest had 4 digit numbers for call signs. Seems like they would have been hunted down and fined into oblivion by now.

Mostly just chatter about how well they could hear each other, but one of them mentioned '20 watts' which could just be a well-tuned base station.

I've been pretty happy with the performance, so I don't think I'll be looking for an amp any time soon.

I'd never owned a jeep or a 4x4 before I got this XJ.

It's pretty awesome to haul ~500lbs of corn, ~500lbs of tools, ice chest, beer, and a few well-fed geezers through some fairly technical stuff in the comfort of fully functioning air conditioner.

That M715 is a hell of a thing, though. If a deal like that had been available when I was looking, I might have told the wife, "I know you wanted me to get something with 4 doors so you and the little one could come out sometimes, but looks like it's just gonna be me and him unless you want to ride in the back!"

Love the FJ, but I will never own a rag top. I carry guns and sometimes I also have to park and leave the vehicle. I don't like having the guns in a container that can be opened with a pocket knife.

Just last evening I saw one of these restored to cherry condition. A buddy had one years ago, would pull the stink off shit but very hard on your ass.

It was. Had a BHT3B ovr HX35 compounded turbo on Cummins from a 96 Dodge. NV4500, 203/205 doubler triple sticked, front and rear winched, on board air (Oasis), on board welder..... was over built to say the least. Built it in Tennessee, moved to Colorado and it wouldnt fit on most of the trails here.

Here's mine. She's my daily driver and trail toy. I've had a lot of fun in this. I've upgraded suspension, steel bumper, winch, lights, up a tire size, rock sliders, it's about 4" over stock. She's not as cool as the OG FJ but I love driving her.
