77/22 Base

I am looking at my 77/22 and I have this B-Square weaver base adapter. The thing is, its solid, but still just looks awefully tall with it on there. I was wondering how hard is it for a smith to mill off the ring mounts and then tap some base holes in it ? I'm wondering then which base it would need ?

Did it not come with factroy rings? All rugers used to come with factory rings. If you want a set you might check at www.rimfirecentral.com to see if anyone has any for sale.

oh I have factory rings. They were 1" ers, and not 30mm. Plus, I have so many 30mm rings at different heights, I figured I could try different scopes out on it if it was based all off a same platform.

I ahve WARNE base that will fit it and convert it to weaver style.

I don't have it mounted on anything at the moment but it will raise everything up about a 1/4 inch but if you are going to use a 50mm 1 inch scope you have to use Ruger extra high mounts.

Most ruger to rail adpt. will raise the scope at least 1/4".
You can add a pad to the stock to get your eye up to the scope.
